How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

When I first got "Arrow" about 10 years ago, the first thing I did was to run over to Banfield and sign him up for the Optimum Wellness Plan, and let me tell you they came through for us more than once. Having confidence in his health welfare care sure does take a lot off my mind knowing he's in good hands. It sure is good to have them nearby. NR

I would love to give 5 stars. this is my local pet hospital where I take my dog. the reason for 4 stars is that it often feels like something is missing on the customer service side of things. maybe the staff need a raise. the service oftentimes doesn't feel streamlined. I'm sure my dog is getting quality care, however the communication isn't always the best. I visited another banfield location in northglenn when I lived on the other side of town and the vet called me, was intentional, focused, and open to any questions I had. unfortunately, this is not the same experience at this location. I'm not sure why it feels like something is missing, it feels like the front and back of the center aren't well connected somehow. I still bring my baby here and do my best to ensure I'm getting all the information I need. I do love having the banfield plan. I feel my pet is well looked out for.

Went in for a morning drop off 6 month comprehensive exam. Wrote on the paperwork that I would pick up as soon as they were done. The tech told me that if I waited, they could squeeze my doggy in and get everything done quickly that morning. I really appreciate that the tech read my paperwork and made adjustments in treatment to make it work so my doggy didn’t have to spend the whole day at the vet.

Seriously do not bring your dog here. I brought my dog for dental cleaning and he additionally had a check up as part of his package, they told me over the phone he would have the check up prior to taking him for the cleaning, but when I got there they tried to skip the check up, when I reminded them they said they'll bring the doctor in, Kelly was his name. He came into the room very angry shaking and in a very rude way asked me: "what do you need from me?!". I was very confused, and then he continued to say: "the assistant said I had told you I would see you", I said I have an appointment, then he says: "ok so you don't have any questions, I'll sent her back in". My dog was going to be put under anesthesia and I just didn't trust someone with that temperament to treat him, and before Banfield comes and posts how sorry they are and how they care so much about us, they don't. I asked for a number to complain and they didn't have one at the hospital, you have to call and wait and take forever to find a human to answer you, of course just to find out the working hours for the complaint department are different. Additionally if you are thinking of taking the plan be aware that the dental is included in one of the packages, but during your appointment you get 3 pages of different things they will not include in the treatment and you will have to pay separately.

We had taken our dog here for about 1 year before they changed their visit policies. He was abruptly prescribed anxiety meds and we weren’t told why, even when we asked repeatedly. Our dog had loved the vet up until this point, and after one visit when we weren’t allowed to be with him, he is now terrified of the vet.
