How to Save Money at Park Hill Veterinary Medical Center

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The best, the best, the best! Cannot recommend them enough - have been to so many other vets where it feels like they’re just trying to get as many people (and $$) through the door as possible. Here, they truly care about the wellbeing of your pets. My dog has anxiety, and they let us bring him by for happy visits because they care about his experience. Don’t go anywhere else but here.

Park Hill Vet is the most caring, attentive vet center we have ever been to, and I can't imagine ever getting care elsewhere. We've had to walk in this morning because our pup injured his paw while walking and they found a way to get us seen and taken care of despite being booked up. They truly care about their patients and it shows. If you are looking for an amazing, caring vet clinic, look no further than park hill vet

This is very detailed because I absolutely can’t recommend this practice enough for your dog. I’ve been bringing my dog, Owen, here since I moved to Denver in 2016. Since then they’ve expanded the clinic quite a bit and have more rooms but the consistent care we’ve received has not changed. Dr. Margot and her team are compassionate, kind, great with communication, and provide exceptional clinical care. Owen is now 14 and they’ve supported him with his primary care through many life stages and of course emergencies (he’s a curious and stubborn lab). He now gets acupuncture from Dr. German 2-3 times a month, and laser from a team of great nurses, and is a happy and healthy and comfortable old man dog. I have never had a call or email left unreturned. They call to remind me of appointments. They even make courtesy follow up calls anytime I bring Owen in or when they get notification I’ve had to seek out emergency or specialty services. The veterinarians (Dr. Margot and others in years past) have spent time researching information on diet changes, medication concerns, and chronic conditions after Owen’s history of liver issues, allergies, recentish liver tumor, and neuro issues. They always spend time going over his lab results with because I’m a (human) nurse and those details are important to me. Dr. Margot and multiple staff have had kind and supportive conversations around the reality of Owen’s health and age. They’ve never recommended medical services or goods that Owen didn’t need or try to “upsell” me. I think their pricing is very reasonable considering veterinary care, like all of healthcare, is absolutely gutted right now. They’ve gone out of their way to be supportive when I have emergencies and run a bit behind and their assistant and service staff interact and talk to me in a professional and supportive manner. I can’t think of a single way they could improve. I really can’t. I trust this clinic with the absolute most important thing in my world. I can’t recommend them enough. I’m sure there are off days that occur like there are anywhere humans are located…. but in over (at least) 40 visits total over the past several years, I can’t think of a reason this veterinary team isn’t exceptional. From the front office to the vet, everyone was friendly and took the time to really listen to what I said. You could tell they truly love the animals. It didn't feel as if they were in it just for the money like my last vet did.
