How to Save Money at Livewell Animal Hospital of RiNo

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Ive been to a lot of different vets through the years having my dogs and I tried Livewell in RiNo after they had a free event at my apartment building. The vet techs were so nice, such an easy check in process and they were able to find Aspen’s previous records super quick - taking that off my plate. Aspen is a little weary of new people and places and the whole staff was super considerate of that by being super gentle and sensitive when touching him and checking him out. After the initial intake with the vet tech, we didn’t wait more than 5 minutes for the vet to come in who was super thorough and patient with the questions I had and handling Aspen. I love that there was no talk of taking Aspen to the back to do his exam or vaccine with out me, everything was done in the room with me - since Covid I haven’t found a vet that doesn’t always prefer they perform anything on Aspen in the back with out me - so I was super happy about that. The whole appointment was very transparent regarding pricing, showing me on the screen what services cost so I could decide what I wanted to move forward with that day. The tech and vet were also transparent about what they recommended was necessary, just a good idea, just preventative, or something that could wait until aspen was a little older. I didn’t feel like they were trying to upsale me or recommend anything unnecessary. Just a cute office, nice vet techs, professional, patient vet and no fuss. Five stars!!

I am so incredibly grateful for the entire team at Livewell! Our pup wasn’t feeling so well and they were able to get him in right away. They were so wonderful with him and put me at ease right away answering any and all questions I had and being completely transparent. We have bounced around a couple of vets in the area with some frustrating experiences and the comfort and trust I felt with the whole staff made me confident that we finally found our home with Livewell!

I just moved to Denver and was looking for a new vet office to establish care for my pup, and we had a great experience at Livewell RiNo. They are transparent about prices, which is so important to me as I have had bad experiences in the past. Dr. Kramer and his staff were knowledgeable and friendly. My dog, Khali, even stopped having her nervous shakes once she got acquainted with them! I highly recommend bringing your furry loved one here to receive great care :) (P.S. Check out the cute bandana they gifted Khali!)

We have lived in Denver for 5 years having 2 different veterinaries. Both did a good job, but never really got a good feeling about them. I never felt like I did with our veterinary in our Homestate. Until we met Dr. Kramer, Olga and Elizabeth. When I walked out of Stella's appointment, I felt like I was home. There's no need to look any further. We found our vet! Thank you!

Definitely making this establishment my permanent veterinarian for both of my doggies. Very helpful and friendly staff when I took our puppy Pomeranian in for his vaccinations and check up. Price was very reasonable and affordable. I definitely recommend this animal hospital for your pets if you are in the area!!!
