How to Save on Veterinary Costs at High Country Veterinary Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I've never had such a great experience with a vet. The team at High Country Vet genuinely cares about animals and is incredibly responsive. Over the years, I've faced various issues with my pets, including cats, dogs, and even a frog. Dr. Moses and her staff have consistently gone above and beyond in their care. She has saved the lives of two of my dogs and one of my cats so far. One of my dogs was bitten by a rattlesnake and required numerous surgeries, and Dr. Moses never gave up on him. Her dedication and persistence are truly remarkable. Dr. Moses and her staff are exceptional people, combining great attitudes with high levels of skill and expertise. They always take the time to explain everything thoroughly, ensuring that both pets and their owners feel comfortable and well-informed. There is no way I would let anyone else treat any of my animals besides High Country Vet. Their commitment to providing top-notch care is evident in everything they do. Thank you for your awesome work and dedication over the past few years. Your efforts are truly appreciated, and I am grateful to have found such a wonderful veterinary practice.

I don’t get all the great reviews. I make an appointment that they confirm (adamantly) and yet I continually wait 10-15 min for them to accept is. I have a puppy. She wants to play and be with every dog in the waiting room. You hear her cryiing….so why does the staff make me wait 15 min every time even though I’m on time? Plus they have the dogs behind the screen and, of course my pup wants to play my with them, but the dogs seem aggressive and growl and bark and snarl at my puppy. I do t get a great welcome when I walk in with a beautiful puppy and a new customer. I’ve been there 3 times now, not a great welcome..,they don’t really acknowledge your dog even. Weird, right??? They just seem so rude to me. They even screwed up my new puppy vac schedule and when I called the techs out on it they got defensive with me. Not cool, considering I have pet insurance and what they put in the receipt is importantly to my $$$, but they didn’t care when I pointed that out. I bought a very expensive pet and researched the best vets around. Not sure what the reviewers expect, but I’m not going back. I’ve never been to a vet like this and I’ve had dogs all my life!!!

Vet #1 saw my dog for a limp and infection between her toes. We opted for exam and removal of any remaining foreign object. Surgery performed, tube for drainage plus stitches. 4 days later drainage tube removed. 4 more days stitches removed. Dog brought out to me, still limping. Why? The vet is busy will call you back in 2 hours. 5:30pm Friday secty calls. Dr. Mosley didn't perform the surgery. She will call you back Tuesday. See if it improves. Mosley presumably looked at dog when stitches were removed, but the original vet who hasn't examined dog since surgery is supposed to evaluate when Vet Mosley who was there at suture removal won't evaluate. $500 What practice removes sutures and refuses to discuss the limp which has not improved and tells you to call the first vet in the practice, 4 days later when she will be back. In the meantime my dog is limping as badly when she was first brought there. I conjecture a vet didn’t even look at the dog and a vet tech took out the stitches and gave her back to me. Unacceptable standard of care. This vet was Dr. Moses, whom i had trusted. It’s like a factory in my judgement. Why should my dog have to wait. Moses was the vet when the stitches were removed.

Drs. Moses and Sallee are phenomenal, as are the rest of the High Country techs and staff members. I would never take my new best friend anywhere else.
