How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Laurel Pet Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Laurel Pet Hospital is truly a wonderful care facility for my young cats. Everyone who I have engaged with there have been kind and polite. I have met with two vets and they both were caring and both spent time to talk with me in detail about my concerns. They don’t at all try to “sell up” services that are unnecessary. One of my cats has behavioral issues and I am so pleased that they are very gentle and patient with her and are helping me do what will help her. Do you and your animal kids a favor and go to Laurel when you need excellent, reasonably priced care.

I go there every year with my dog for a check-up and to get a health certificate. The service is great and so efficient. Samantha is an expert for issuing a health certificate and has made the process and my life so much easier. And also all the staff, from the doctors, to the assistants, to the front desk have always been super nice and caring. I can highly recommend Laurel Pet, you’ll be in great hands!

I think reviews are so helpful. This place is great if your dog needs their shots or a nail grooming or a refill on prescriptions. I absolutely feel like the entire place could use a makeover and the staff could use further training to improve client/patient relations. I’ve given them a 3 star based on an encounter I had this week. I was proactive in emailing them with a recent dental exam for review and requested an estimate for my Dog’s dental cleaning. In the email, the proposal states that costs could be anywhere from $1400+ to $2300+. I was asked to call in to pay a $200 deposit to schedule. I called and no one answered so I left a voicemail message. I emailed them back to inform them of the message I left. Someone called me back to explain that when I come in (2 months from now) that prices are going up so my price WILL BE MORE THAN WHAT WAS QUOTED but they COULDN’T TELL ME HOW MUCH MORE. I was ready to pay the $200 deposit but I’ve never not been told what my new price increase would be and just blindly accept that I will be charged “more.” As much as I would have loved to bring my dog back in to a place I’m accustomed with, I let her know that I would prefer to just cancel… not because of the already pricey estimate & not because I can’t afford this. I just absolutely do not agree with this bait & switch business practice… feels wrong in so many ways. I also don’t think it’s this woman’s fault that she hasn’t been trained better by management. If they paid me, I’d be happy to properly train them on how this entire process should have gone. Open to any other Vet suggestions anyone else has!

My family and I have brought our cats to Laurel for a *long* time, and over the years we've even adopted 3 cats they were fostering. Dr. Rettinger is absolutely wonderful and the front desk is always friendly. You'll need to park on the street (there are metered spots on the side street) and spots are generally available, but I recommend arriving early just in case.

Update: They removed her stitches for free! I don’t know if this is standard for other vets but I was so impressed. They clipped her nails, did a check up and made sure everything looked good on top of it. I had an emergency situation with my dog and didn’t want to bring her to my regular vet, as I’m not fully satisfied with them. I made the rash decision to come here and I’m so glad I did! They took her in immediately and the staff treated us so well. The vet is a lovely woman with a sense of humor to put you at ease, while the manager who operated on Ani is also a funny and trusting man with great skill. I had another situation to attend to and they had her in and out in a small window of time without sacrificing their skills! The price was very reasonable, one of the main reasons I left my previous vet. I can’t thank this staff enough for all they do! This will be our new regular vet!
