How to Save Money at Leave No Paws Behind Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The office staff & the Veterinarian are friendly. The Vet is personable and very knowledgeable. She answered all of my questions and was incredibly helpful with my dogs issues. The prices are more affordable than other Vets. I will be using them for my dogs healthcare needs in the future.

First off I would like to thank Dr.Mock for the care she gave my black cat, Salem. I clearly didn't know what was wrong with him so I scheduled him for his second visit and after he showing signs of a uti. I was desperately thinking of the worst case scenario that he might be blocked but after his second visit it was apparent after he received care and speaking with the vet that, that wasn't the case. And fast forward to now he is doing so much better. I would recommend this vet clinic especially for those looking for affordable vet care since they offer reasonable pricing. The staff is also very friendly and understanding. I would also like to thank the staff for helping me get thru the experience with my pet.

I came here after looking up an affordable veterinary clinic. I was previously with another clinic that just cared about the business side of pet care ($) and couldn’t even give me a diagnosis. I’m mainly leaving this review to help the next person who might be in a similar situation as me. Lots of things I wish I knew before and the lack of communication has caused some mistakes that cannot be fixed at this point. Cost: Affordable, they were 1/3 the price of an emergency animal hospital I went to that didn’t give me a diagnosis. Remember affordable doesn’t mean cheap but their prices are very fair. I also believe they are so affordable because they don’t add ok unnecessary items to the treatment plan, keeping the costs low. Medical care: I felt like the doctor and the technicians really cared about my dog. They were compassionate and gentle with him. Most importantly I found out what was wrong with him. Too late to save him but I got my answers. Overall experience: Ehh, it’s been salted for me based on that lack of communication I was referring to. I had to euthanize my dog. I was in shock, I was devastated and rightfully crying. The front really had no empathy for what I was going through. I came out crying to make my payment and it was just like any other day up there. On their phone, nonchalant and borderline cold in my interactions. The biggest problems were; 1. No one told me that they wouldn’t remove his leash and collar and save it for me. Nor was I asked if I wanted to keep it. Unfortunately it was cremated with him. 2. I specifically asked for a ceramic paw print AND an ink paw print when I was in the room getting quoted. I didn’t care about the cost, I was willing to pay for both and requested both. When I signed the paperwork I was crying and honestly couldn’t even really read what it said because of my emotional state. I trusted the conversation I had about what I wanted. Apparently they only ordered the ceramic paw print. I’m supposed to hear from the manager tomorrow and I’m sure they will read this. I don’t want to deal with anyone anymore at this point because nothing can be done to get me his collar back and his ink paw print. Neither an apology or compensation can get me what I want and I’m not interested in anything else. Unfortunately what I want cannot be given to me because my dog was already cremated. Very sad.

The staff was beyond helpful and forthright about the care needed for our rescue shih tzu. They were honest, professional, kind and affordable. I cannot recommend this vet more.
