How to Save Money at All Creatures Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I highly recommend All Creatures Veterinary Hospital if you’re looking for a professional, caring, trustworthy, and stress-free place for your pet. I say this because I’ve tried many other emergency hospitals, but they were all inattentive and unreliable. At All Creatures Veterinary Hospital, I was able to receive a visit quickly. My cat was weak, needed urgent help and they took him in with no long wait time. The staff is super friendly on the phone even when you meet them. They don’t make it seem like you’re bothering them and all staff is genuinely there to help. The most affordable compared to the others as well. Again, highly recommend for any owner who loves their pet.

As someone who works in the veterinary field, I extra appreciate the level of kindness, understanding, and helpfulness we received here. Our clinic was closed, and they were able to fit us in within a few hours to say goodbye to our sweet old kitty who had a sudden stroke. We avoided the emergency clinic, and I am eternally grateful. Everyone was so great and sympathetic to us. Only caveat was no parking, but honestly, it doesn't take away from the great experience. Thank you again.

Unfortunately my family had a bad experience with this vet. My wife and I were traveling and one of our dogs was sick. We asked our niece to take our 14 and 16 old daughters to a vet and have the dog looked at on a Saturday. My older daughter found this office and took the dog in for a consultation. The problem I have is that the girls felt pressured to do a 3K exploratory surgery. That seemed crazy enough but then staff said that the animal was in good shape and would be back to normal after the procedure. The staff had no right to make any comments about the dog since they had not seen his chart and did not know he suffered from hip dysplasia and a few other chronic conditions. My niece had to finally step in and say the parents would have to make the decision and not to keep pressuring the girls. The other issue was they were wrong in their diagnoses and our own vet figured out the issue in a few minutes, and a few hundred dollars later we had him back at home.

Inhumane vet service that will turn away a dying Creature!! Change your name to Some Creatures, because you won’t see ALL of them. Whoever owns this place should be ashamed of themselves. Rename your lowest place to Dog & Cat Veterinary because I could go ANYWHERE for my cat!! You are an embarr& I will put all this on Yelp. No one can get into your clinic not even in an emergency! Don’t say you are sorry, know what saying that means!! I’ll post a picture of my tortoise dead on your site & let everyone know YOU wouldn’t see her!! Shame on you for EVEN calling yourself a doctor!!!

I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is. We took in a stray cat that we feed, after we found him listless, unmoving and sadly meowing outside our door. They were immediately kind and friendly; the receptionist was helpful, the nurse was sweet and understanding, and the doctor was straightforward about the cat's condition. When we made the choice we had to make about him, they were again helpful, compassionate and warm. They made this painful process so easy. I wish all veterinary hospitals could be like this one. Thank you so much.
