How to Save Money at Serra Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
From my first interaction with Serra Vet, I was impressed with their knowledge and kindness. Having adopted a 2 year old Sheltie in need of a spay, and current vaccines. Their team took terrific care of her. The pre-op, surgery and post-op instructions were clear. The surgery went well (and they were able to complete the spay laparoscopically). If I had any questions about sweet Fiona’s recovery, Serra was only a phone call away. It’s been a while since I had a pet, so I was very glad to have found this team!

I don’t live close to this vet, but my normal vet recommended them for a combination neuter + gastroplexy for my young, 1.5 year old malinois because she did not offer gastroplexy surgeries via laparoscopic and Dr. Natt did. My dog is a fairly reactive dog with strange people, and while I continue to help him get over his fear of being handled by strangers, he wears a muzzle and has to use medication to be seen by a vet. Dr. Natt and staff here were very empathetic toward him and understood his fears. They were happy to provide his surgeries. The vet techs and staff were compassionate and understanding. Dr. Natt was competent and very nice. Unfortunately, when the surgery started, the camera for the laparoscopy did not work, and they called me to discuss my options. I could choose to do traditional gastroplexy since he was already under anesthesia or do the neuter and wait 2 weeks to do the laproscopic gastroplexy when he’s recovered. I chose the later even though it was a major inconvenience to me, because i had to have my own knee surgery two weeks after my dog’s neuter/gastroplexy. Since they were now separated, that meant having his gastroplexy same week as my knee surgery. So I have to say I was a bit bummed out by the lack of equipment preparation. Regardless, they were excellent and did a great job. On my dog’s second surgery/gastroplexy, he happened to bust one of his stitches because he busted his cone in the morning right before his meds. We woke up, he was alert (not yet medicated) and while going potty, he busted his cone. while my husband fixed it, I’m on crutches, unable to do much, he happened to start playing with my other dog (normally he’s crated while recovering but he was on a potty break) and found a ball and hell broke loose. So we had to have him get restitched. We were lucky he didn’t bust his internal stitches. Made me wish i asked more questions about the traditional gastroplexy at the time of his first surgery/neuter and the pro’s or cons of both the regular gastroplexy vs. Laparoscopic. Perhaps I would have just chosen the regular one. I’m not sure there’s a difference. But would have been nice to know, i just didn’t think to ask. So my poor dog now needed an extra week in the cone. All because of a mix of weird timing and unforeseen circumstances. Over all, a good experience, staff was nice/competent, doctor very nice and put up with my little cujo which goes a LONG way in my book. I appreciate any vet who is willing to work with a fearful dog.

Dr. Nat and his staff have taken care of my torti cats for years, good as Gold - my cats live to be 18 & 19 years and I credit that with the care they have taken with my little furry girls. The medical care is worth the price - including dental cleaning and annual lab work. They also offer monthly injects for my 15 year old cat's joint pain - it works and she's no longer limping.

I have been here only recently, but was very happy with how they handled my cat. He was a stray and TNR kitty we adopted but he still liked to fight, so he had a big cheek abscess. Serra got him in much more quickly than any other local vets, and the front desk and assistants were super helpful. Dr Natt fixed him up nicely. I am heading back soon for a well visit.
