How to Save Money at Terra Linda Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

It's hard to improve perfection. I appreciate the kind and compassionate care you have provided both Fionn and Cody. My dogs are my family and I love them both. It's important I find them the best care possible and Dr. Davis provides just that! Many thanks to everyone at Terra Linda Veterinary Hospital!

I can't think of any way my experience can be even better. You all are wonderful. Besides Dr. Davis being extremely knowledgeable and caring, I feel Charlie is (and Molly was) truly loved and cared for by each and every one of you. Thank you for everything!

My indoor cat gets very scared meeting new people, so from the hospitals recommendation we sedate her when visiting. Today we sedated her like normal (she could barely walk straight), but the doctor* was only able to trim one claw (Last time they were able to do a full checkup and trim her claws). He said this time we have to sedate her fully to do a checkup or anything else. He was also rude and called my cat a "problem child" and did not even look at her record. We wanted to discuss her previous blood work and he did not bother to even see the results, dismissing us, saying we needed to make another appointment. Visiting the hospital is a traumatic experience for my cat and expensive for me. *Spoke to the hospital and they said the doctor that we saw was a covering veterinary. They addressed all my concerns. The other times have been fine.

Andy and Andrea everyone is soo loving and caring at this pristine hospital. My friend had a last minute serious emergency within his family. This co incided with his large older fur baby.s Dr. appointment and operation. They were soo committed 1st and foremost to ensuring the priority of healthcare for said fur baby. The care and tenderness Terra Linda Veterinary Hospital provided to the whole family was really special and professional . The place is sterile, impeccable soo holistic and santized all throughout.. The hospital followed up with safety protocol ensuring well being with continued direction of aftercare. They really went above and beyond yet to them it was par for the course . You could tell that their healthcare 5☆ red carpet treatment was their everyday delivery. This hospital provides care that is seamless, thorough, they ensured that the delicacy of the situation was experienced very sweetly and tenderly by the patient. The impeccable service Terra Linda Veterinary Hospital provided was exceptionally personal. The extra thoughtfulness they provided when interacting with the unique personality of their patient in tending to their needs was heart provoking . It is a super heavenly space .When I went to pick him up, my friend.s baby had spring in his spirit and step. They really loved and supported him entirely and tenderly throughout his entire medical needs; afterwards as well. Thank YOU

Dr. Davis and Lauren, Maia, and Alan (😊) have treated my dog, Harry, with such thoroughness and care that I never worry about taking him there. I have also heard good things about Dr. Rose and other staff members who I have not yet met. I have taken my past (😢) dogs there before I adopted Harry. I have also boarded Harry at their newly remodeled boarding facilities, Tails of Terra Linda and also really am happy with his care there and the staff. He has been there for a few days/nights and even just over night. When I picked him up both times, they let me know how he was and how he handled being away from me/home. They also provide day care, and I've seen dogs brought in for those services who seem happy and excited to be there. I definitely recommend both the veterinary care and boarding facilities they offer.
