Dr. Jurney's team told us we could always reach out for a second opinion/regular care because the other neurologist that handled our cat's surgery had sporadic availability. When it came time to ask for help, Dr. Jurney's team told me that they were unwilling to help. No empathy, no compassion.

Careless, irresponsible malpractice, please avoid Dr Jurney and her team. Here is our full story: Our 8 year old female cat started having seizures in May 2022 so we took her to the Pet Emergency Center in San Rafael where she was diagnosed with a fungal infection (Cryptococcus). They recommended that we see a neurologist so we quickly booked a visit with Dr. Jurney. After a 15 minute assessment, she came out to the parking lot and told us that our cat will likely die within a year and that there is not much we can do besides give her seizure medicine (Keppra). Shellshocked, we asked her if she can do an MRI on our cat to understand the underlying cause for the seizures and the response we got was even more shocking - that she reserves MRI's for animals that have more urgent needs. This didn't make sense at all because our cat was having seizures nearly on a daily basis. We insisted on an MRI but she pushed back, said it was expensive and unnecessary for a cat that was already diagnosed with Cryptococcus and that based on her experience, had no more than a year to live. We left very frustrated at her "this is your fate" attitude and the $300 she charged us to deliver bad news enlaced with zero hope. Shortly after, we took our cat to another neurologist who immediately scheduled an MRI for us to understand the underlying cause of her seizures. The result was astounding - they found a huge benign tumor inside her nose that was eating away surrounding tissues and the cranial vault that the brain occupies (Clearly, the tumor was causing the seizures and Dr. Jurney didn't even feel the need to take an MRI). Within a day, our cat was in surgery and the mass was removed. Her seizures stopped and we continued to treat her fungal infection with Flucanazole medication. 4 months later she was clear of the fungal infection and lives a healthy life now. Had we listened to Dr. Jurney, our cat would have died, not because of the disease, but because of her lack of empathy, logic and experience. I waited for a year to carefully write this review and still find myself frustrated about her MALPRACTICE - please please please, take this as a warning and DO NOT GO HERE. We received impeccable care at Sage Dublin and Pacific Veterinary Lafayette over the past year, their neurologists and doctors have competence and empathy.

Dr Carrie Jurney and her staff were more than professional in handling the difficult case of our dog. They drove us through the process step by step, patiently answering all our questions once the tests were completed. If you ever need a neurologist, we can confidently recommend Dr Jurney.
