How to Save Money at Larchmont Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I was looking for a new vet for my furry family and was immediately impressed with my initial phone conversation to book my first appointment. I was not disappointed! The office is clean and fresh smelling, the staff is friendly and helpful, the doctors are great and answered all my questions and offered treatment for my older guy to help keep him comfortable from the wear and tear of getting up there in age. I would definitely recommend Larchmont Animal Clinic for your pets care. Lyndon Ollie liked them too!

I took a dog I was fostering here for her check up. Everyone was kind and loving. They made the 8 week old puppy I brought in feel safe and comfortable. They gave her cuddles and helped me with her while I filled out my paperwork. It was a wonderful experience, I'd highly recommend this vet for your pets.

I am sickened by the services here at Larchmont Animal Clinic. Which I have patronized in the 10 years I have lived in the neighborhood. A couple of months back, I brought my terrier CharLie Bear in because of an ear infection he got. Given he had been there and the Barking Lot for vaccinations before, I figure I'd take him there for medical care. They diagnosed him with a bad ear infection, washed it out, have him a steroid, a week's worth of antibiotics as well as ear drops. We were charged for an exam fee, care and medications. All seemed fine. We went about our directions and Charlie Bear consumed his antibiotics. About two weeks after his initial visit, i noticed the ear still bothering him. So I made an appointment again and took him in. The doctor swabbed the ear, ran a lab and insisted there was NO SIGN of infection left. Charged me again for an exam, and another half week of antibiotics stating he should be just fine. Fast forward a few weeks to this week. I was walking CharLie Bear and his collar pulled over the ear in question and he let out the biggest yelp as if had been being attacked. I inspected the ear after the ordeal and found the infection had returned and looked almost as bad as the first time I took him in. So I called Larchmont Animal Clinic and inquired about returning for further care. Asking to not again be charged for ANOTHER EXAM as they had sent him home insisting the infection was gone on his 2nd visit. The administrative assitant said she would talk to the doctor and they would return my call later today. About an hour later, the assistant named Jeff/Josh/John (i forget in anger) returned my call to clearly tell me that CharLie Bear can be brought in for further care, but I would again be charged ANOTHER EXAM fee, along with any care and can make the decision to have his ear closed or REMOVED entirely. YES, he proposed removing my pup's ear without even having looked at it again as a solution. Not only does the lack of compassion sicken me, their obvious exam gouging is just as bad. Not an "oh no, its not cleared up?" or "we're so sorry to hear it wasn't cleared up after his previous visits"... just a "You'll be charged an Exam Fee, Care & Medication Fees if you want to bring him in" It is crystal clear this office has no actual interest in the care of my family member. All they care about is the money he brings in for repeated nonsensical exams. CHECK HIS DAMN HISTORY. They even sent me his records from the last few visits so I can provide them to VCA, where I will be taking him. They have amazing notes about how I'm upset that I don't want to be charged for unnecessary services and that they are referring me to another vet for surgery. (YES AGAIN, they insist he needs surgery without seeing him again, even though they told me he no longer had any sign of infection on his follow up visit) Needles to say that I WILL NEVER BE COMING BACK HERE, and I recommend anyone looking for REAL QUALITY CARE for their Furry Family member look into VCA locations. They are amazing, have great Veterinarians who I've noticed take real interest in the health of your Pet, and are not a dollars & cents bottom line type of business. GOOD RIDDENS TO LARCHMONT ANIMAL CLINIC. You Don't Deserve to care for my Amazing & Loyal Best Friend.

I have been a client of this vet for many many years. Usually great service, however, recently I took in my dog because she had a UTI and they tried to get me to do a lot of tests that I didn’t feel were necessary- very expensive tests. I finally relented to a urinalysis even though I knew my dog had a UTI because she had one before. Then they also filled my prescription at the vet and never told me the price of any of the services, or that I could actually have gotten the prescription medicine on chewy or another site and saved at least $100. I walked out of there spending over $500 and feeling very taken advantage of, I will not be going back

Everyone here is caring, helpful, thorough and take the time to get to know your furry companion. They really make you feel like family. Dr. Ciganek, Dr. Horowitz and their team are the best, I could never take my dogs anywhere else. Thank you for all that you do!!!
