How to Save Money at Eagle Rock Animal Emergency
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Nothing but an amazing experience dealing with this hospital, Dr and staff. Called and expressed my concerns about my 13 week old kitten that had a 106 fever. They were able to schedule me an appt quickly. They brought her in where they did X-rays and lab work and found out she had FIP which can be fatal if not treated. Dr Kennedy recommended a blood transfusion and FIP treatment to give her the best chance. I’ve never been to a hospital that had available donors on stand by, it made the process so much easier than having to find a family cat to bring in for the donation or where the FIP medication was available to get so easily without jumping through hoops. Dr. Kennedy called me and kept me updated on the whole process and how she did through out her week stay. There was a scare after the transfusion was done first night but her staff was quick to act she said and they got everything under control. My family and I are forever grateful for caring for our baby Sage through this scary time and getting her better. I highly recommend this hospital for any emergency care especially for your kitty loved ones. Scratch pay was also available to use and it made the financial decision easier to be able to pay for treatment.

This team worked tirelessly on New Year’s Day on a very old, very malnourished beautiful stray wire hair terrier we found covered in burrs and mats. They were incredibly transparent about his condition and worked to answer our many questions. They got this little lovebug hydrated, nourished, walking, and treated for a mouth infection. And now we are fostering him, hoping to find him a forever home to retire to.

I had an exceptional experience with Dr. Kennedy and the entire team at Eagle Rock Emergency Vet. From the moment we walked in, they treated my pet with genuine care, compassion, and urgency. Dr. Kennedy took the time to explain everything clearly, eased our worries, and made sure we understood all our options. The staff was incredibly supportive, attentive, and professional throughout the entire visit. It’s never easy visiting an emergency vet, but their kindness and expertise made a stressful situation so much more manageable. I’m truly grateful for the level of care they provided. Highly recommend this team to anyone needing emergency veterinary services—they truly go above and beyond.

I want to give a huge thank you to the entire team at the hospital for taking such incredible care of my cat, Simba. He was hospitalized and going through a scary time, but everyone there treated him with so much love, patience, and professionalism. From the moment we arrived, they made sure Simba was comfortable and safe. They explained everything clearly, kept me updated, and never made me feel rushed or ignored. You can truly tell they care about every animal that comes through their doors. Simba is now back home healing, and I’m so grateful for the attention, kindness, and compassion they showed him. Thank you for helping my baby get better — I couldn’t have asked for better care.

I called ERAE on Friday night after noticing that my cat Salem seemed to be experiencing urinary tract issues. They reviewed my concerns with me and walked me through what would happen when I took Salem in. Salem received excellent care from Dr. Kennedy and the vet techs and was returned to me in good spirits. All told, I paid $827 for outpatient treatment, urinalysis, subcutaneous fluids, convenia (antibiotics), zorbium (transdermal pain meds), and a bottle of an oral gabapentin suspension and a prescription for hill’s science diet c/d to take home. ERAE staff were kind, calm, and clear in all their communication and have done a wonderful job following up with me to make sure Salem is doing well. Important to note that you can’t go inside with your pet and they don’t have a lobby but regardless, I highly recommend ERAE. Oh they also have an incredible catio out back which seems like a good sign to me. 🩵
