How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Cahuenga Veterinary Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I’ve been coming to Cahuenga Veterinary for a few years for care of my two cats and have been consistently impressed with the level or care, staff, and assistance. I frequently have questions and they’re always willing to help me over the phone, and offer a same day appointment if something requires an extra look. Every appointment I’m offered an itemized bill before treatments beyond the standard exam fee so I can consent to the price and ask questions. One of my cats has urinary issues and I’m so grateful I can get same day appointments and care when needed so we can prevent things from turning critical.

Came recommended from a friend whose small rescue dog has endured many issues and Dr.C was the man. Dr. C gave us info we needed and a plan for our dogs betterment. He doesn't try and sell you everything and knows everyone has a budget. Nice clean facility and staff were above and beyond in the care of our lovely dog. Highly suggest this facility and Dr. C.

Unfortunately, this was not a good experience. We arrived on time for the appointment and were taken back to the treatment room, but then were not seen, while other pets were seen. When I checked back in with the front desk, they appeared to not know who we were, when our appointment was, or when or if we would be seen. Bad all around. UPDATE: This issue was promptly--and graciously--resolved with a follow up appointment the following day and free exam. It is refreshing for a veterinary practice to acknowledge and address a concern so quickly and directly. We will be returning.

DO NOT COME HERE -- Our dog passed away after surgery and inadequate post-care. Our Border Collie, Sparky, had surgery here on Oct 20, 2025, performed by Dr. Christian Croquenois at Cahuenga Veterinary Hospital. We were told the procedure went well, but the post-surgery instructions from Dr. Croquenois and the assisting nurse, Kevin, were unclear and incomplete. We were told to give Sparky his antibiotics only if he was "willing to take them", and no one showed us how to properly administer them or warned us of the risks of delayed doses. Because of this lack of guidance, Sparky went several days without antibiotics. His condition declined rapidly -- lethargy, vomiting, and visible distress. When we returned on Oct 24, Dr. Croquenois acknowledged Sparky's condition but offered no follow-up treatment and simply directed us to go elsewhere. There was no sense of responsibility from the team that had just operated on him. Sparky shortly passed away on Oct 27. We understand complications happen, but what we experienced was a lack of guidance, lack of follow-up care, and lack of accountability. Sparky was my brother's emotional support animal and losing him like this has been traumatic. We tried to reach out to discuss what happened but there was no response. At this point, all we can do is share our experience in hopes that it prevents another family from suffering the same confusion and heartbreak. Please be cautious. Ask every question possible. Our trust in Dr. Christian Croquenois and this hospital cost us Sparky's life.

Ignore the negative reviews. This is a wonderful clinic and its clear the staff genuinely care about the animals they treat. Dr. C is very knowledgable and attentive, and has never pushed unnecessary treatments the way other providers sometimes do. The phones are ringing 24/7 and it's clear the clinic is extremely busy, but if you book appointments ahead of time and come in prepared, you’ll get respectful, professional care every time.
