How to Save Money at Valley Veterinary Urgent Care & La Quinta Pet Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

It's always a pleasure to leave a review about an outstanding veterinarian. It's never a good thing when our pets get sick and need care. It breaks our hearts because we love our animals. When my much-loved standard poodle, Oliver, was in pain and limping, I took him to see Dr. Allen. Miriam, the receptionist, took my call and booked Oliver immediately. She was so compassionate and listened intently to all my concerns about Oliver. The building and offices were so clean, comfortable and beautiful which also made me feel welcomed. Then I was met by Anna, the Vet Tech, who listened intently to me and assessed my dog. She relayed all my concerns to Dr. Allen who promptly met with me and Oliver. Dr. Allen talked with me at length. He did not rush me. He explained thoroughly what might be going on Oliver. I deeply appreciate the time Dr. Allen gave me to express all my concerns and to offer various courses of treatment. I very much appreciate his dedicated staff. I highly recommend Dr. Allen for his experience, expertise and professionalism. Diane B.

Three years ago, when my kitten needed emergency assistance, I was fortunate enough to find this clinic. In another clinic, at 11 p.m., I was given an estimated cost of around $4,000 for just the examination and overnight stay, with no guarantee of survival. That's when I began searching for other clinics and discovered La Quinta Pet Hospital. Dr. Allen promptly examined my kitten and identified an infection. He conducted the necessary tests and administered the required treatments right away. To my joy, within 12 hours, the kitten showed signs of improvement and has since grown into a healthy, beautiful, and incredibly affectionate cat. And you know what? The entire treatment back then cost only around $500. Since that moment, Dr. Allen has saved the lives of my pets on multiple occasions. There are probably no words to express the gratitude and happiness our family feels because of the incredible work you do. La Quinta Pet Hospital is a true gem, offering not only exceptional veterinary care but also compassion and affordability. The dedication and expertise of Dr. Allen and the entire staff are remarkable. I have complete trust in their abilities and have witnessed firsthand the positive outcomes they achieve. Thank you, La Quinta Pet Hospital, for being there for us in our times of need and for providing such outstanding care to our beloved pets. Your commitment to the well-being of animals is truly commendable, and we are forever grateful. Sincerely

I've taken my dog here a few times. They are always available for emergencies and are very compassionate. I had to say goodbye to my dog the other day, and Dr. Allen was so kind and compassionate with us and our dog. He told us we did the right thing and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye to our baby. Thank you Dr. Allen and his team for taking such good care of my baby.

This clinic got our dog in same day, as new clients, for what we thought was a reaction from a free vaccination clinic 2 days prior. Turns out our little puppy actually had the beginning of a parvovirus infection! After calling 10+ clinics closer to home, we made the almost two hour drive to La Quinta Pet Hospital. We are incredibly thankful they could squeeze us in and help our puppy start feeling better. For her emergency exam fee, all bloodwork/tests, and meds/fluids to go home we spent a little over $600. It seems like a lot at first but in all reality, that’s pretty average for an emergency sick visit with a veterinarian and we are just happy we left with answers and a treatment plan. Their office call fee was less than what other clinics had quoted, but nobody could see us the same day. They do offer a military discount as well.

I took my dogs to get the Canine Influenza on July 6,2021 and paid $90.00 for both not bad. Today July 27, 2021 I take them back to get their 2nd dose. I handed my credit card to the technician and now it’s 143.70. I came home a compared the invoices, I called back, but they would just say it’s a technicians fee but couldn’t explain what was the service provided by the technician. Stay away from this pet hospital.
