How to Save Money at La Fin Veterinary

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Charlie took the time to wholeheartedly care for Zena in her last moments. My 8 year old pup suffered from Subcotaneous Lymphoma. She was 7 years of age when she passed. Dr. Charlie came to our home on July 4th 2023 withou hesitation. Dr. Charlie came to our house and answered any remaining end of life questions. Dr. Charlie took amazing care of my baby girl. He assisted us in guiding Zena into the next crossing ✝️ ❤️ God Bless you Dr. CHARLIE!

I cannot sing the praises and thanks to to Dr Charlie enough. When the place we planned on using fell through this man was an angel in the dark. Our kitty declined much faster than our vet thought would happen but had warned us it could we picked a company to assist with euthanasia but unfortunately they were unable to assist us at the time and day we needed in the end. Dr Charlie from La Fin Veterinary was everything we needed and more. Having called so many other places with no response or no availability, it was so much peace of mind that he could come and be here in good time, even with us being a bit of a drive for him. He was through in his explanations, open to all questions and concerns, showed our kitty the same tender loving care that we do, and very patient with me and my girls. We will never be able to thank him enough.

It has been a week since we said goodbye to Gracie, our beautiful 13 year old Golden retriever pup. My heart is so tender that sometimes I close my eyes and remember to just breathe. She was a beloved family member, amazing traveler, sweet soul, curious learner, and my kind & constant companion. We adored her and miss her beyond measure. We chose to say goodbye to Gracie at home for several reasons; all were centered on her comfort, as well as our's. After calling a few companies that were unable to come out for several days, Dr. Charlie's name was recommended and contact information given. From the initial call and follow-up conversations with Kris (Dr. Charlie's assistant), I felt comfortable, heard, and more at peace. To put it simply, I felt cared for immediately. And, this was what I needed ~ our family needed. It is likely what YOU need right now. Someone to walk into your situation and give advice and truth and empathy. Dr. Charlie and La Fin's staff were able to gift us that as they skillfully and lovingly guided us in our next steps. We scheduled for Dr. Charlie to come out the next day. From the moment he arrived, there was a calm, comforting confidence in our home. Dr. Charlie walked us through every step and loved on Gracie in such a tender way as he met her and chatted with us. He helped us create such an honoring memory to our sweet pup. I could not have written a better ending for my Gracie girl. And, that could not have happened without Dr. Charlie. Thank you so much for your expertise and kindness, Dr. Charlie. You are a blessing, To Kris... for your kind words and thoughtful communication ~ it was everything to me as we waited for our appointment. For those of you reading this and making such a hard decision... I am so, so, so sorry. My heart aches for you, even as I ache for Gracie. Without hesitating, please reach out to Dr. Charlie. Let them be there for you. Hugs to you.
