How to Save Money at Pet Vets of Folsom
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Just found my new favorite pet hospital. They saved my little buddy's life. Thank you Carie, Katy and all the staff. And they also have adorable kittens up for adoption

We took in my 5 year old Labradoodle to get groomed. He came back almost completely shaved to the skin and with multiple sores on him. Here is a picture of two sores on his neck from the razor. I do not recommend this place for grooming dogs, especially labradoodles. *Follow-up*: I wanted to follow up now that it's been 3 months since this happened. When I let the groomer know this happened she denied it. It ended up taking my dog 5 weeks for his sores/burns to heal. He was very bothered by them and didn't want to play/walk for about 3 weeks. I ended up finding another groomer in Folsom (A Perfect Groom) that was wonderful and did a great job on my dog. She explained to me that this sort of razor burn can happen if they don't change the blades and they get hot or they are too dull - I imagine that's what happened here. Very disappointing that the groomer just denied it.

Many of you reading these various reviews for this veterinarian clinic, likely want only the best for your furry family members. I can understand because I too, wanted only the best for my beloved furry friends. I am offering my sincere review and sharing my experience with the hope that this may help guide you and other furry parents to this incredible animal hospital team. This is truly a place where all pets thrive because the staff serve our furry and human community with excellent and exceptional care and compassion — this is candidly a ‘one-of-a-kind’ clinic and without an equivalent in the world of veterinarian care! My whole world was utterly shattered when my beloved Lady Bug was diagnosed with a fatal illness. Under these dire conditions, the entire staff, lead by Dr. Katie and Dr. Joe provided exhaustive and compassionate clinical care for Lady Bug and unparalleled emotional and physical support for me and my entire family. To describe Pet Vets of Folsom Animal Hospital as “spectacular” is an understatement as my experience with Pet Vets, Dr Katie and Dr Joe has been that they and the entire staff offer the “finest in veterinary care”! As difficult as it has been navigating this unimaginable loss and by sharing my experience with you and others, I do find some comfort in knowing that my experience with Lady Bug’s passing just may not be in vain.

This is one of the best veterinary hospitals I’ve ever taken my dog to. They were professional, very kind and gentle with Buster, and their treatment was effective—he was back to normal very quickly. I was so impressed that they called me at home to check on him. I’m a major fan and will absolutely bring Buster back to these caring professionals.

This is truly a loving and caring place for our beloved pets! From the moment we arrived and greeted by receptionist, Gracie, we had an amazing experience! Dr Joe and vet tech Cari provided a remarkably thorough, compassionate wellness check and it's obvious the depth of the veterinarian experience is unparalleled. Our 'Bambino' (3LB Yorkie) was exhaustively examined from head to paw--and he too, was grateful for the loving and comprehensive care he received. Thank you Pet Vets of Folsom for your brilliant team work!
