How to Save Money at All Creatures Veterinary Emergency Clinic | Folsom

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My Corgi was struggling to finish labor and push out her last few babies at 2 AM. The overnight team was incredible and so kind. It was looking like it might turn into an emergency c-section, but with their persistence and medical expertise (mixed with what I can only describe as divine intervention) allowed her to pass the puppy that was blocking the way. They saved 2 puppies who might have otherwise died and they kept my girl alive and well. I can't thank them enough for their work and for being so thoughtful at every turn. If you are facing an emergency and need some peace and expertise, please take your beloved pet here.

We brought our new verrrry young rescue kitten here when his health quickly took a bad turn. They took him in right away and we all expected the worst. We didn’t have the funds to do all the things, so they taught us what to do at home once he was more alert after they gave him all the care that they could. They didn’t give up on him and gave him a fighting chance. Best place I’ve taken an animal. Dr La Rue and the staff are amazing people. Since finding out he’s a boy, his name will likely change to “Rue” from “Lotus” when we thought he was a she. ♥️😌

My husband took our very sick bearded dragon here and they did all they could to try to help her. They gave him status updates throughout the long night whenever he called, and they did all they could to try to treat her. They referred us to a reptile specialist at another clinic, but unfortunately at that appointment, they had to put our little girl to sleep. The following week, we received a very sweet card in the mail from the All Creatures staff expressing their condolences. It was such a thoughtful and meaningful gesture. Thank you, All Creatures staff, for doing all you could for our little beardie.

I will never be able to fully express my gratitude to the team here at All Creatures in Folsom. Several months ago my husband and I brought our golden retriever Minnie in after undergoing complications during a spay procedure at a different clinic. Our dog Minnie had already had 2 surgeries and was left internally bleeding when we brought her in. As soon as we arrived, the staff were very quick and attentive. I have never experienced anything more frightening in my life than the fear of losing my dog and the entire staff here reassured us that they would do everything possible to save her life. I would especially like to thank Stacey and Dr. Smith for their compassion and incredible care. Our dog had to undergo a 3rd emergency where they were able to find where she was internally bleeding from and they were able to provide her with a blood transfusion as well. Thanks to them my sweet girl survived and made it to her second birthday! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for exceptional care for their pets. I will forever be truly grateful for the amazing work they did.

The vet and staff at all creatures veterinary are the best. They took great care when my dog had a bad hotspot and he is recovering nicely. Very thorough and compassionate. The five stars google uses is not enough to express my appreciation.
