How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I had a wonderful experience at Banfield Pet Hospital with my dog, Cielo. The drop-off process was seamless and stress-free, and the receptionist was incredibly helpful. I was particularly impressed when the veterinarian called me after the appointment to go over Cielo’s blood work and overall health. They answered all my questions thoroughly and showed genuine care for my pet. I highly recommend Banfield Pet Hospital for anyone looking for professional and compassionate care for their pets.

From check-in to check-out, our visit was absolutely amazing! This was my first time at this clinic, and I found a coupon online for a free first visit—so we decided to give it a try. I’m so glad we did! Everyone we encountered was kind and welcoming to my furry friend. Check-in was smooth and attentive, and the nurse who prepped us for the vet was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and answered all of our questions with care. Then we met Dr. Brenda Cotto López—she was wonderful! My pet tends to be nervous around strangers, but she was so patient and gentle. She took her time with him, made sure he was comfortable, and thoroughly explained everything from diet to flea prevention and heartworm disease. I felt completely at ease and never rushed. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. I left feeling confident and well-informed. I would absolutely recommend this clinic—and especially Dr. Cotto López—to any pet parent looking for compassionate, knowledgeable care!

EDIT- I cannot respond to your comment but my contact information has not changed. Thank you for reaching out, I would appreciate someone contacting me. My cat had an anal gland abscess that bursted and they did nothing the first day but ask me to come back and charged me almost $90 for the visit. I paid about $1000 for them to clean and drain the abscess. They ended up installing a drain that I had to make an appointment for them to remove 3 days later. I was told I wouldn't be charged for that and they assured me nothing would go wrong. The drain fell out on its own due to their poor stitching so I had to go in before the appointment and they once again did nothing but charge me for the "visit." When the drain fell out her stitches looked loose and I expressed that to them and asked if they could fix it but they said it was fine. The following day they were even more loose so I took her in yet again. They insisted the stitches looked "beautiful" and that they had told me that them coming loose and the drain falling out was completely possible (they had told me the opposite). I also expressed I didn't think it was fair to charge me for something that was their fault as that visit would never have happened if they did their job properly. They avoided my questions and comments and talked to me like a politician. They tried telling me it was my fault and that I misunderstood. They had attitude and only comped me for that second unnecessary visit. They were more than happy to see me go. Neither I or my cat received proper care and I couldn't be more upset with this whole situation. Do not bring your pets here. They just care about getting their money. There were other incidents like them pushing a bigger recovery cone which literally slid off my cat's head but they didn't care and just kept saying that's the size they recommended. Everything about this experience was horrible and I'm just waiting to file a malpractice lawsuit which isn't even the only one they're going through. Look it up. Do better for your pet and take them literally anywhere else.

Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing and upsetting experience at this Banfield location. The vet, whose last name was Hernandez, was extremely unprofessional — at one point even placing his leg on the counter while speaking to us, which felt disrespectful and dismissive. He also raised his voice, which was shocking and completely unnecessary, especially in a medical setting where pet owners are already worried. We came in looking for real help with our dog’s health issues, but instead we were treated with rudeness and a lack of compassion. The manager, Ariana, was also not helpful and did nothing to de-escalate the situation or assist in resolving our concerns. It felt like we were being pushed away rather than cared for. We’ve spent months trying to figure out what’s wrong with our dog, and we expected support — not hostility. Sadly, I would not recommend this location based on the way we were treated.
