How to Save Money at Cerritos Animal hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

So grateful for Dr Kim and his staff. My pet felt super comfortable with him since day one. He was right about the timing to perform my pet’s surgery, and explained every detail of the procedure. His staff is super friendly and helpful and took amazing care of my baby. She recovered in just a few days of her surgery. Facility is super clean and has cute treats for our pets. :)

Cerritos Animal Hospital took such great care of our puppy when he was sick. All of the staff are incredibly kind and managed to fit us in last minute, which we really appreciated. Dr. Kim took the time to give a thorough explanation of what was going on and answered all of our questions patiently. On top of that, the pricing is very reasonable. We are happy to have a vet nearby and will continue to bring our puppy back for his checkups.

Dr. Kim and his staff are exceptional! They have treated our cat & dog (on separate occasions) and in both cases their services have been extremely helpful. They offer a 50% discount for all new patients (about $27), the offices are squeaky clean, there are treats for the pets, and the staff are VERY friendly and caring! (Bailey has helped us twice with our pets and has been so sweet and compassionate, including asking about the health of our cat that was treated last year.) They also offer affordable treatment options and provide the best care possible for the pets! Our cat was seen last year for a urinary infection & crystals. Dr. Kim immediately examined him and provided treatment options for us, including more affordable ones given the urgency and unexpectedness of the matter. He laid out a concise plan and was very compassionate throughout the treatment. Dr. Kim even went as far as to call us to do a wellness check on our cat while being treated at home. After following his suggestions, our cat has been crystal-free since and has had no problems! Most recently, we brought in our dog for excessive scratching/allergy concerns. Dr. Kim examined our dog and gave us suggestions on how to treat our dog, including a change in his current diet and some medication/injections to help alleviate the itching our poor dog has been suffering from. By the end of the day, our dog had not scratched himself once. Overall, we are VERY pleased with their service and would recommend them to all friends and family! We have never come across a more caring veterinarian like Dr. Kim !

I recently switched my dog over to Cerritos Animal Hospital. We’ve had such a great experience with Dr. Kim and his team! From the start, they’ve been incredibly caring, attentive, and transparent. It’s rare to find a vet who takes the time to walk you through everything without pushing unnecessary procedures or surprise fees. They were upfront about all costs, and even offered a discount since we’re new. We recently brought our dog in for a dental cleaning. Dr. Kim sat down with us to go over her lab results in-person (which we’ve never had happen at any other vet clinic), and even showed us photos of her teeth that he wanted to discuss. The rest of the staff is also amazing, and they called the next day to check in on our dog and see how she’s doing. Highly recommend Dr. Kim to anyone looking for a compassionate and trustworthy vet!

I recently brought my dog here for a regular check-up after a friend recommended it, and I’m so glad I did! Dr. Kim was very kind, patient, and took the time to explain everything clearly. He took great care of my dog and made us feel completely at ease. I really trust him. The clinic is new, very clean, and well-equipped with X-rays and other diagnostic tools. The staff were also friendly and helpful, which made the visit even better. My dog especially loved the treats in the waiting room! It’s little details like this that make a difference. After such a great experience, I’ve decided to make this our new animal hospital! Thank you so much, Dr. Kim and team! Highly recommend this place!! 🐶
