How to Save Money at Harmony Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I didn't get the doctor's name , he was a male , tattoos and redish beard with an accent (not Bryce lol). Great quality care. Was not pushy at all with all kinds of un-needed testing and labs. I also assumed it would be allergies. He confimed it , gave antibiotics a vaccine and spray. Very straight forward and clear. My fur baby and I appreciate you. Thank you.

Phenomenal veterinary hospital. The staff is incredible and the vet is awesome. Our corgi has always been very cared for at this location from anything like general check ups to illnesses to vaccines ever since he was a puppy. They are super affordable and the quality of care is immense. I know vet visits can be stressful for pets but our dog is always happy to come because the staff is always so nice and friendly to him. The vet is professional and has tons of experience. She will recommend the best course of treatment for your pet and give you great tips to improve their life quality. When our dog was a puppy, he had a ton of stomach and appetite issues, the vet took great care of him and even recommended a new food brand to help with his appetite which worked incredibly well. Our dog still eats this brand. The staff tends to remember pets by name which makes it feel like they truly care and listen. They are currently doing curbside appointments only for regular check ups, vaccines, and other regular appointments but will of course let an owner in if your dog is very sick or needs specific type of treatments. Please wear masks! We’ve had X-Rays done here too and the vet did an incredible job of explaining what was seen and providing a treatment plan to help our dog get better, which he did! We love this location and our corgi does too. The outside is an old building but looks can be deceiving. They are nice and clean inside and have fixed up their parking lot too which was great. We have been coming here from his first check up and vaccines with us at 8 weeks old to now that he is almost 3 and don’t plan on changing for his lifespan. They have taken care of our corgi through vaccines, check ups, knee injuries, ear infections, stomach issues and more. A truly thoughtful and caring bunch that are invested in your pets’ health and wellbeing.

I just moved to Arizona a month ago. I can’t believe on my first try finding a good Vet. I not only found an Amazing Vet, but professional loving people who actually care about your fur baby! 😍 every single person who works there is absolutely Wonderful, friendly and really make you feel welcome. Dr. Shelly called me and explained all the testing they did and what could be the issues. And put my dog on antibiotics and she’s doing Phenomenal! I truly can’t thank them enough!❤️🙏🏼 I advise everyone to call Harmony Vet first! You can’t find people like this just anywhere. The pricing alone will tell you these people care about the animals! Very very reasonable!! ❤️💯🐶 **UP-DATE- my 14year old Cookie was very sick. She passed away. With the support and empathy from Everyone at Harmony, I made the decision to put her out of her misery and pain. This had to be the hardest decision of my life. She was a very bad dog to everyone she met or even looked at, but she loved me with all of her being and I loved her back with all of mine. I couldn’t have been more thankful for the compassion that I received when I needed it so badly. As we all know here, Arizona isn’t big on compassion, but these people here are just angels with huge hearts for all animals. I’d like to take this time right here to thank each and every one of them. The help I received here is exceptionally special. If I can say anything about Harmony Vet is to let everyone know, there are people in Arizona that give a shit! That have full compassion. This place is definitely one in 100 million!! 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼 Thank you 🥲❤️

Do not take your animal here all they want is your money. the vet said that my dog would have to be on antibiotics long-term. That was not the case, she’s fine now after I took her to my vet. The vet that runs this clinic is only out to rob you not to care for the animals. She gave my dog 4 different antibiotics at the same time. I only knew of two. My vet only put her on one and she’s well now. This vet here at Harmony wanted me to do more test, more bloodwork, more money for something that could be cured with one medication like I say run do not go here

I wish my primary doctor listened to me and took time with me the way Dr. Burdick does with our fur babies. She is very thorough, takes the time to explain everything and her pricing is more reasonable than the bigger chain vet office we used to use.
