How to Save Money at Complete Pet Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

A few weeks back my family had to say goodbye to our beloved pet duck Molly. We bought her when she was a baby duckling and became very attached to her, she spent the first half of her life as a "house duck" as she always wanted to be with us. I built her a nice coop with misters for the summer, heating pads & a heating lamp for the winter. She also had her own little swimming pool. We ended up buying 2 more female ducks to keep her company, and even then she'd always sit outside our back door quaking to be let inside. We noticed she seemed to have a harder time passing eggs than her sisters, and she was also quite small for her breed (Jumbo Peckin). I did some research online and didn't think it was a big deal at the time. One day I came home from work and saw she had a prolapse from a failed egg passing. I knew immediately what it meant, but my spouse wasn't ready to say goodbye to her and started looking into emergency surgery. The issue was that the surgery cost almost 10k$, had a very high chance of recurrence with the next egg and would cause immense prolonged suffering for Molly. So the only logical option was to have her put down. To make matters even worse, all of the vets I had called said Molly was classified as an exotic animal because she was a duck and couldn't euthanize her for us. I called Complete pet care and explained the situation and they immediately said they would do it and got her in within the hour. My Spouse and my son were both very sad but they said their goodbye's to molly and I drove her to the clinic. Molly was an incredibly smart duck, I think she had an idea of what was going on and was very scared. The doctor was so compassionate with Molly, she went above and beyond to calm molly down so she could pass peacefully. I'm not a very emotional man but that day I was, never knew I would end up caring so much for a duck. Thank you guys so much

We recently changed vets to Dr Cinda and we are beyond pleased! Dr Cinda is hands on and compassionate. We are allowed to be present during exams and treatments (something our last vet stopped allowing).Dr Cinda is thorough and her follow-up calls are welcome. We KNOW she (and staff) cares and that makes a difference when our fur babies are our family. They have expert recommendations and referrals when our baby was diagnosed with an enlarged heart, something the last vet somehow missed. We could not recommend Dr Cinda , staff and Complete Pet Care enough!

Our whole family trusts Dr. Cinda with our pets! She’s incredibly knowledgeable and has figured out things other vets couldn't. She truly cares, goes above and beyond, and always gives thoughtful, thorough care. Her team is just as great—friendly, kind, and helpful. We’re so grateful to have them!

I GOT NEW PUPPIES! With that comes lots of puppies poop those damn parasites. Cinda got me in quickly so we could start nailing down the cure. With her help I'm positive we'll get these pups back on a healthy gut routine. Enjoyed Cinda and her staff, Dwayne was very helpful and thoughtful!

My 6 year old, female Standard Poodle had to be “put down” suddenly, and Dr Cinda and Savannah allowed me and my other dog to have quality time with my dying girl before she crossed the rainbow bridge. Dr Cinda and Savannah were so caring during the entire process, and I am so grateful to them. I highly recommend Dr Cinda, who is a true animal lover and advocate.
