How to Save Money at Spirit Mountain Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We found out about SMAH when we could not get our boy, Batman, in to see our usual provider on short notice. This became a more frequent need as his health deteriorated over the years, and SMAH never let us down. (Sometimes it meant waiting, sometimes it was an emergency charge, but both were acceptable to us.) We are very glad that we found them. Everyone in the office was exceptional; always courteous and empathetic. (Special shout-out to Dawn, Juli & Sylvia, with whom we usually spoke but all the staff are great.) Drs. Greene & Gupta were always generous with their time, making sure to explain their diagnoses and to answer our questions and concerns. Batman was not a fan of any vet 🙂, but we appreciate SMAH and everything they did for us over the years. We give them two paws up 🐾 🐾 and hope you will too

I know that I only rated it one star and I probably should give it at least two because the veterinarian at Spirit mountain animal hospital is actually quite qualified I think... So. My first visit was about a month ago. I took my cat Layla, my bill was over $700 and that was for an initial visit and exam some antibiotics because she had an ear infection and a gum infection. I could not afford the $700 so suggested that I just take care of the gum infection first and then the ear infection. Took her back Friday because all of her antibiotics from the gum infection were gone and now I wanted to tackle the ear infection. However, I was presented hey Bill for over $900! Practically $1,000 $989! Another disappointment. As far as when we looked at the itemized bill, it did not seem to me that I was getting $1,000 worth of service for my cats plural because I took the other cat in to be checked as well. Another thing that irritated me was in between crying and sobbing because I couldn't get care for my cats who had ear infections because it was too expensive, I told the vet that I would just like to pay the bill and take my cats home. I would have to find helps elsewhere because I could not afford his services. At that time. He informed me that they had already cleaned Layla and Tommy's ears and I would be responsible for that bill. Because I had worked all night on the night shift. I was already crying because they needed care I couldn't afford, I just told them fine and I went out to the desk to pay the bill. It took them about 15 minutes to bring Layla and Tommy to me. And I now looking back think that that was because they were cleaning their ears. I don't think that they had cleaned their ears already. I don't think that the vet expected me to tell him. Never mind. I would go elsewhere. And that infuriates me. Another point was they are not supposed to administer any kind of care without my approval first to make sure that I can pay. So all of these things added up together. Tell me that this is a dishonest veterinarian clinic and I would not recommend taking your beloved animals there for care.

The staff is amazing! They were the only ones that offered to help us in our time of need with our pup, Easton. Sadly, He is puppy heaven. We will only take our fur babies to them. They're gentle, caring, attentive, and put our little ones at ease. Thank you to the staff at Spirit Mountain Animal Hospital.

I adore Dr. Gupta and his team. They are so great to my babies and due to the seriousness of the situation they regularly checked in. Great service.
