How to Save Money at Pine Street Animal Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Despite how extremely busy they were, they got my baby boy, Bandit, in that same day. He woke up with a terrible persistent cough and I was so worried it was CHF. Everyone was so great! They took exceptional care of him and were very thorough. The vet was able to put my worst fear at ease and assure me that it was more likely a respiratory infection and not CHF. They sent me home with medications, they even marked the oral syringes to make it easier on me to measure his dosage. I'm happy to say that my precious Bandit is feeling much better and I could not be more grateful to Pine Street Animal Clinic in Cabot, AR for taking such great care of him.

Service was great from the time we arrived till the time we left, zero wait time with a scheduled appt. Michelle & Dr. Rowlan took the time to listen to our concerns while seeing both of our dogs in a single visit. They offer great advice & treatment options. The Pine Street crew has been great with our kids since they were puppies. Pine Street offers very reasonable rates and great customer service, 10/10 would recommend!!!

This was our first time at Pine Street Animal Clinic. We are new to Arkansas having moved here from California. We adopted Ruby just 4 days ago, she is a Standard Poodle, 10 1/2 weeks old and she was due for her 3rd round of shots. We wanted to establish her with a Vet and very glad we chose the Pine Street Animal Clinic. The staff and Dr. Jennen were all so nice and very thorough.

First, 4 stars because nothing is ever perfect and I am so literal. Suzanne, (sp?) was so very cool when I retunred a missed call. She listened to my concerns about my dog while on the phone. It only takes a few minutes to listen to a concern and then offer some advice, a plan to address the concern or a solution right then. And, she had compassion because she has had similar experiences. We need more of that in the world. I am in Healthcare for humans and the workload is heavy, but when someone is talking to me and expressing concerns, I slow down and really listen. Sometimes people need a few extra minutes (more than the suggested time we are trying to adhere to) to explain what they are experiencing and we just might be the person they were meant to meet, finding somethint the last person missed or offering them advice on some options to try, meanwhile. It is all about balance and Suzanne, you get it. Some patients need a little extra time. So, thanks for taking the time listening to me and I hope that you, or someone like you, will be there on my dog's next visit, listening to me go on about my dog and their unique problems, offering up more than one option that can best work for my dog. Because, just like we know our own bodies best, our kids best..the same goes for our dogs. We live with them day in and day out. We just need doctors, nurses or staff, who are the pros at diagnosing and treating, to listen and offer solutions/treatments for our dogs that are not a "one size fits" all treatment or resolution. 🐾

I had a very bad experience at this vest's office In my opinion, all they cared about was money. It wasn't the care of the animal Again, in my opinion it was all about how much can you spend All I can tell you is my personal experience at this office. It was not good. They spent more time about the cost of services than they did about the care of the animal. All I can say is I was very disappointed in my visit at this vet's office. Again, this is just my personal opinion. Take it for what it is. But in my opinion, they cared more about how much I could spend instead of how much they could help my animal. But in all fairness, they did not charge me a dime. Once they told me how much they thought I might have to spend for treatment of my animal All I wanted was a simple shot of antibiotics. For my animal They tried to sell me $880 for the potential treatment to my animal, which was way more than I could afford. I am retired living on a limited income. And all I wanted was a simple shot of antibiotics to help my animal. And they wanted to sell me such an expensive treatment that I couldn't afford the help. A simple shot of antibiotics would have sure been a lot more help than no service at all. Possibly that would not have been enough to help my animal, but at least it would have been something that might have helped Instead, they let me walk out the door with a sick animal that I could not afford. What they were asking for to help my animal. I was able to get a simple shot of antibiotics . At another veterinarian location And at the moment, my animal is doing much better. All I can tell you is my personal experience at this location. Use your own judgment, make your own decisions. All I can do is share my personal experience. But like I said, in all fairness, they did not charge me for the assessment of my animal.
