How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Indian Hills Animal Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

It's hard to find an exotic vet, but I was happy with this one. I went in asking about bloody poops and she found some blockage right away. My biggest complaint is that they charged $20 to trim his nails, and normally that's a free service. Parking is absolutely awful. Small lot that I imagine is mostly filled with employees.

The vet was very knowledgeable about my tortoise and his species. The vet was able to answer all my questions and do all of the tests to ensure my animal was healthy. The vet also was able to further educate me on the best possible care of my Western Hermann’s tortoise. I highly recommend this vet.

I have visited a couple of different vets around town but nothing compares to the care that both my dog and myself received from Indian Hills. I had a freak scare with my dog but my usual vet was not able to see us. I called Indian Hills and they were able to get us seen in under an hour as an appointment. Dr. Drain is the upmost kindest veterinarian that I have ever taken my dog to. She listened to me so carefully and made me feel seen and not crazy/overprotective regarding the things that I was concerned about. I have never had a veterinarian sit and answer every single one of my questions, go over everything, and spend the better half of an hour with us in the room. My dog loved her and so did I. Regarding the price, I am in college and yes it was a little more expensive than I have paid in the past, but I was given a quote before anything was even attempted. At the end of the day, I was fine with the price and would pay it over again simply because of the treatment from Dr. Drain. I would rather pay more for a veterinarian visit when the veterinarian takes the time to alleviate every possible anxiety and touch all bases possible like she did. I cannot foresee myself going anywhere else unless Dr. Drain leaves.

I made an appointment for my bunny to be neutered a few months ago and they called me literally less than a week before to tell me that they won’t be able to do the procedure because the vet won’t be there. My parents took off several days to help me take care of him, have already paid for accommodations through the trip, and travel arrangements. I will NEVER take my bunny here again because I can’t count on this clinic. Incredibly disheartened and disappointed. Do not bring your pets here if you want a reliable vet.

Caring & competent vets and vet techs. They'll fit you in if you have a more urgent issue. Good communication. I believe they no longer treat birds (Dr. Smith was the bird guy & he recently retired) but they do treat reptiles now.
