The staff was amazing and very helpful! They helped me save my baby from a really tough situation. They were able to adjust their schedules and did everything possible to save my dog. Bamba is doing very well and she is happy to be home and back to normal. From the bottom of my heart, thanks to every single team member for doing what you do and for giving my Bamba a second chance, I'm sure she felt happy to be there for recovery😊 Thank you! We don’t know if this veterinarian is negligent, if the rescue (Full Circle Rescue & Sanctuary) we were working with is negligent, or both. We had a stray dog that we were fostering, and we were told by the rescue to bring him to Calera Animal Hospital for boarding while we were on vacation. He was also to be neutered and vaccinated during this stay. Despite being very reasonably priced, I wouldn’t recommend this vet to anyone, for any reason. When we dropped the dog off for his pre-scheduled stay, the front desk staff had no clue he was supposed to be there or what he was there for. When we picked him up, he had a wound at the incision site that he’d clearly been left to lick at. He was not sent home with a cone, and there was zero communication about when he was actually neutered, any follow up needed for the wound, etc. On top of this, we sent clear instructions for his feeding routine, as well as plenty of plain kibble and pre-made frozen meals for him. He was fed none of this. It was all returned to us at the end of his stay with mold on the previously frozen food, and he had clearly lost some weight. We have no clue what, or if, he ate during his stay. Finally, animal urine/feces can be smelled as soon as you step into the building. While the veterinarian may have been in communication with the rescue about his care, I sort of doubt it. If the rescue did know about his care, it was not communicated back to us. Based on our experience, we wouldn’t recommend this vet OR the rescue we tried to work with. We are no longer fostering, partly due to this lack of communication and quality care. EDIT TO ADD: We definitely were not the adopters of this dog, just fosters. And we were told by Heather, the director of Full Circle Rescue & Sanctuary, to take this dog to Shelby Humane after we could no longer foster and they could not find alternative placement.

This has been my regular vet for years and always recieved kind, caring service. Recently I had to put my dog down, who was a regular with the clinic. The vet techs there with me were so gentle and showed real care for my dog. It made the process so much easier. If you want a clinic that truely cares for each and every animal. This is the one.

We take our pets to Calera Animal Hospital. Last year the Vets identified food sensitivities in our German Shepherd. She had an itching problem, so they recommended that we change her diet. We changed to a different dog food and that solved the problem, but then the company quit making it. I tried other brands, with no success. Then I spoke with Alyssa at CAH and explained the situation. She went on line to find the formulation of our dog's previous food, and compared it to brands currently on the market. Alyssa found a variety made by a different company with the same formulation, gave me the name, and even described what the bag would look like to make it easier for me to find. What great service! Thanks to her our dog can enjoy meals again without itching!

The best vets office I have ever been to! Dr. Ellison is so thorough and so educational when she’s caring for your pets, she explains every little detail perfectly. She’s amazing with my cat, Lilith, and amazing with my guinea pig, Rosemary, which by the way she quite literally brought her back to life. I’m so thankful for the staff and the doctors, truly the best!
