We’re so proud so many of you use our site to make the right Pet Insurance choice for you and your pets. In turn, you help us donate thousands of dollars to North Shore Animal League America and Humane Canada, so they can help animals and pets in need. We’re delighted to report that together, we’ve donated over $21,000 so far this year!   North Shore Animal League America North Shore Animal League America, the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization, is celebrating 75 years of saving homeless animals in 2019. They’re currently completing the extension of their adoption center in Port Washington. This much needed extra space will help them find loving, new homes for more pets.  They find homes for about 18,000 animals a year from this center and the extra space will allow the cats they rescue to live in cage free rooms. This will give the cats more space and make it easier for prospective new owners to interact with them and choose their new furry friend. This should result in more rescued cats in need finding new forever homes.   North Shore Animal League America continue their work to rescue dogs and puppies from overcrowded shelters and terrible conditions locally, regionally, and across the country. They work in partnership with other rescue organizations to rescue, treat, rehabilitate and re-home the terribly neglected dogs and puppies, cats and kittens. One such example was a humane relocation rescue in early August when they rescued 42 neglected dogs and puppies from the Georgia Coalition. It was the fourth rescue from this partnership. You can read more about this incredible rescue story on their site here.  Our donations help make it possible for North Shore Animal League America to continue their vital work, so please tell your friends about what we do so we can help even more pets in need! Humane Canada With a Fall federal election coming, Humane have been campaigning hard to get four important Bills made into law before parliament dissolves. In June they reported the awesome news that Bill C-84 An Act to Amend the Criminal Code pertaining to Bestiality and Animal fighting, passed through Parliament and into law.  The good news continues as Bill S-203 the ‘Free Willy’ law was also passed banning the captivity of whales and dolphins. The Ending the Captivity of Whales and Dolphins Act was first introduced by Humane Canada and 3 senators in June 2015 and it’s faced opposition, but finally the Bill has passed into law.    There was more good news with the passing into law of Bill C-68 banning shark finning. This terrible practice of removing shark fins, often while the animal is still alive, just to make snacks had to be stopped and is an illegal practice in Canada. June 2019 was a great month for animal welfare in Canada thanks to the tireless work of Humane Canada and their colleagues.  It’s thanks to your use of our site that makes it possible for us to help these fabulous organizations to continue their vital work, so THANK YOU for your support!

We’re proud to support charities making positive changes to society for animals and children in Canada and US!   2019 is an important year for both of our charity partners working to make a real difference to the lives of animals and children in North America. North Shore Animal League America, celebrating 75 years of saving homeless animals, is promoting their Mutt-i-grees Social and Emotional Learning program for children using shelter dogs to teach kids valuable life skills. Humane is campaigning for important legislative changes before the Fall election in Canada to criminalize bestiality and animal fighting.  Humane Canada With a Fall federal election looming Humane Canada is working hard to get four important Bills made into law before parliament dissolves and the Bills die. When Humane Canada advocate for the protection of animals they save lives. Nowhere is this more clearly illustrated than in Bill C-84 proposing important changes to the Criminal Code to protect animals from bestiality and animal fighting. With bestiality strongly linked to child sexual abuse the Bill is not only important for the protection of animals, but also the protection of Canada’s children. If you'd like to help you can send a letter to your MP through Humane's Canada's site.  Humane Canada take their responsibility of speaking up for creatures who can’t speak for themselves very seriously, which is why they are also campaigning to get legislation into law to ban the captivity of whales and dolphins, prohibiting cosmetic testing on animals and banning the importation of shark fins. They need your help to get these Bills into law so if you’d like to help please visit their site to learn more. North Shore Animal League America (NSALA) NSALA are the biggest no kill animal rescue and adoption organization in the world! They celebrate 75 years of saving homeless animals this year and are promoting their Mutt-i-grees Curriculum that teaches Social and Emotional Learning with Humane Education to children. Developed in collaboration with Yale University’s School of the 21st Century the Curriculum is designed to enhance students’ social and emotional competence by teaching empathy, resilience and ethical decision making by exploring the unique characters of shelter dogs and encouraging children to make real connections with the animals. Often taught in conjunction with bullying prevention and when promoting embracing diversity, the Curriculum is taught in over 4,000 schools and libraries in all 50 states, and in Canada. You can learn more about this unique approach here. We’re proud to support 2 such wonderful organizations working to make a real, positive difference to animals and children in US and Canada, and it's all made possible through your support of our service. Thank you!
