How to Save Money at Dallas Veterinary Dentistry & Oral Surgery

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The team treated my dog well during and after her stay. Dr. Czuba was very thorough in explaining her exam and giving options for the plan. The team rocked at giving pre-procedure instructions as well as home care afterwards. It will not be the least expensive option, but I believe you're getting expert care that you can trust!

We are so excited to leave one of the best reviews in a LONG time for Dallas Veterinary Dentistry & Oral Surgery! Our amazing Senior Silver Paw Alden AKA The Dude; our Cane Corso rescue had a pretty hard life, and lots of scars and stories we can only imagine so he didn’t get a lot of trips to the dentist in his almost 12 years BUT the care and compassion and support and professionalism we experienced was nothing short of brilliant. He had heart issues so expert anesthesia would be necessary, and every step of the way we were informed, and all questions completely answered. They took so much time and was so cared for and had all his important work done and came thru with flying colors. Sometimes there is a specialty vet that you come across and are so grateful for their dedication to your pet , from the front desk, all communications just everything. And a gentle mat for our big boy to lay on while he was examined to help his old bones. Such a beautiful experience. Stayed right within the surgery quote so no surprises. The Metroplex is so very lucky to have this talented team expertise and, but mostly we are grateful that this put our Alden’s future dental health in such a great situation. Take the time, do your research for what is best for your pet always; and know that this may be the very best choice; it was for us.

We are so thankful and pleased with the care our cavaliers received from Dr. Nossaman and her staff. Dr. Nossaman’s expertise, compassion, and amazing quality of care were well worth the long drive and expense. Our senior cavalier with heart issues came through her dental procedure with 7 extractions and had no issues recovering. She was also able to treat some problem areas in our 4 year old cavaliers mouth before they became an issue. We highly recommend Dr. Debra Nossaman for your pets dental care!

This is the GOAT! Honestly, the staff and doctors are excellent. Compared to going to your home veterinary and being told, " we have to extract the tooth." We don't do that is human dental care, so why do it in our babies. Unless it is necessary and vital to health reasons. They saved the tooth by capping it, and though the other could not be saved, it had to come out, but it was like our wisdom teeth. Not required to chew our food. The point is this is the place to go if you want excellent dental care. Thank you. Very Respectfully GREGORY DEAN "ICEMAN" WHITE STAFF SERGEANT, U.S. ARMY

Extremely professional & caring. They were very compassionate, reassuring and kept me informed every step of the way for a tiny Chihuahua, 16 years old. They did a terrific job, saved his life I’m sure and he recovered beautifully. Having a dedicated anesthesiologist along with the surgeon is so appreciated. They had excellent pictures and the doctor explained all to me. If you want the best, safest and most caring staff & doctors, before, during and after surgery, this is the place to go!!
