Fair Oaks Ranch Veterinary

I have been going to Fair Oaks Ranch Vet for 20 years, now, and they have taken care of the three dogs I've had in my life. They've been seeing my current (large) dog since he was a puppy, and even though he's highly anxious and can be tough to handle, they treat him with respect, like he's one of their own, and like he's the good boy he is. They also saw my other two dogs all the way through their deaths, and they treated both of those experiences with a high amount of respect and care. I drive 25 minutes just to see this team, each visit. The front desk is always friendly and informative, the techs are upfront and thorough, and it has never mattered which vet my dogs have seen, they are always treated well and their problems are thoroughly taken care of.

Fair Oaks Ranch Veterinary was the only vet that was able to help us when Pebble broke his leg. It was a very stressful time but they made it easy and worked with us every step of the way. We went to multiple veterinarians to get quotes or options for Pebble but Fair Oaks Vet was the most knowledgeable and experienced. It was pricey but we expected that when got an Italian Greyhound. Overall, I recommend for any major surgery or procedure.

Take your animal to a different vet where they care more about the pets than their own pockets. Be prepared to spend thousands of unnecessary dollars if this is the vet you choose. Fair warning Edit - There was no profanity or abusive behavior they are liars from the front desk to the vets. They lied to my face about future medications and denied me after they were paid. The Doc misdiagnosed my pet twice, made my whole family cry about how long he had to live, and even tried to sell me more products that were unnecessary. Don't trust these people plain and simple

Very very poor communication that cost us an extra $260. Will not be returning. I’d recommend going somewhere else that is more honest and up front about pricing. If you do decide to go here and need to budget be sure to see costs in writing and pay cash or check because they charge extra fees as well. Full story: We just moved to the area and needed a new vet, just for a regular visit and update vaccines. Everyone was very friendly, so that’s the two stars. But there was a very major miscommunication on the cost of the vaccines. We called ahead, and asked about the proheart vaccine and the lady on the phone said it was $118 but there’s a new thing now that includes flea and tick prevention that’s $210. This wording made it sound like it was one vaccine, my husband was also in the room during the call and was under the same impression. Again in the office we were talking about the proheart vaccine and I asked, “oh and y’all have a new one now that includes flea and tick for a year right?” She responded, “yes and that’s about $220 I believe.” And I said great we will do that one. Well apparently they are two different vaccines. So we were charged $118 plus $220. Maybe that’s dumb of me not to know, but I’m not a vet, and in both cases they made it sound like it was one vaccine. Instead of trying to resolve the problem they had a very “I’m so sorry for the miscommunication… but welp sucks for you we already injected the pup so you have to pay” attitude. (They did not literally say that, just said sorry, but didn’t do anything at all to resolve it.) They then offered to “take off” the fecal. So I was initially like, ok well that’s only 35 bucks, but it’s something and nice of them to offer. BUT after talking with her further she said “yeah we can just take it out of the freezer before it gets processed.” So I then realized she meant not do it at all, not a courtesy “we’ll take it off the bill for our mistake of not correctly communicating the vaccine cost.” Theeen to top it all off they were taking forever to come back, so I decided to go to the front to pay instead, and thank goodness I did because I happened to see a sign that they charge a 3% fee for credit cards (something that again, was not communicated), AND thank goodness I had a check book because it would’ve cost another $20. The appointment was at 8:30 and I was finally able to leave around 9:45. They said it would take 20-30min tops when I called for scheduling. All this to say. Really really really horrible communication all around, several times in just one visit. And because of their poor communication it cost us over $200. The lack of being kind in anyway trying to resolve it is what upsets me the most. Even if they just said something like “I’m so sorry, we can take $x amount off your visit because of the mistake on our end, but that’s the best we can do. I really am sorry.” That could’ve gone a really long way with me. But the welp, sorry about ya attitude was extremely unkind. So they got the extra $260 this time, but they won’t be getting anything else from us again in the future. Their prices are reasonable, BUT it’s worth paying a little bit more some place else that clearly communicates and has better service. And reasonable prices don’t matter if there’s a miscommunication that costs you hundreds of dollars. *Update: changing this to one star. I was just doing the math in my head, and the numbers were even more off so I looked back at the receipt. They told me all the wrong numbers. Prices are the same or better everywhere else, definitely go somewhere else if you care about costs. They told me $30 for rabies vaccine and $30 for lepto DHPP, just looked at the receipt and they charged $41.22 for rabies and $56.34 for the other. A visit that I estimated to be $352 (because of the numbers they gave me verbally) ended up being $612. Very dishonest.

The entire staff could be described as efficient and friendly; Murph (pictured below) agrees wholeheartedly. The facility was clean, and our veterinarian had gentle, calming hands with my dog.
