I cannot say enough good things about this veterinary clinic and Dr. Spellman. I recently moved to Austin from Los Angeles, and the difference in care, experience, and transparency has been truly refreshing. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with genuine warmth and kindness. Dr. Spellman took the time to sit with me, explain everything thoroughly, and treat my cat as if he were his own. My 7-year-old cat had a neuter, vaccines, lab work, and GI concerns addressed, and I felt completely confident and reassured every step of the way. The personal follow-up call to review results meant so much to me. In contrast to my experiences in Los Angeles where you are often asked to pay hundreds of dollars just to walk in the door, questioned in a crowded lobby, and pressured with scare tactics and unnecessary services, this clinic was the complete opposite. The care here was thoughtful, honest, private, and never rushed. Pricing was fair, transparent, and clearly focused on what my pet actually needed. This is everything you hope for in a veterinarian: compassionate, knowledgeable, ethical, and genuinely caring. I am so grateful to have found a vet I truly trust and highly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for exceptional care. Also bonus points my baby came home without a any shaved legs or bandages and no discomfort he was back to his usual self within hours.

I had such a wonderful experience at North Lamar Veterinary Clinic and can’t recommend them enough!! From the moment we walked in, Dr. Spellman himself greeted us and personally walked us back to the exam room, which immediately set the tone. He was incredibly kind, welcoming, and took the time to ask thoughtful questions. It was very clear how much he genuinely cares about the animals and the people who bring them in. The entire office has such a warm, personal feel. You can tell this is a place built on long-standing relationships. There are so many photos of the doctor with patients over the years, along with cards and notes from grateful pet parents, which really speaks volumes. Everyone on the staff was so sweet and attentive, and the office itself is charming and inviting. Overall, it was a truly positive experience, and I left feeling really grateful to have found such a caring and knowledgeable vet. If I weren’t moving I’d absolutely be coming back!

Dr. Spellman is a great vet! He was very kind to my dog and very knowledgeable, he instantly was able to see what was going on with him. The office is very clean , and immediately after my dog came off the table they sanitized it for the next animals. The prices are really good, way better than what other offices charge, and the quality of service was excellent. I highly recommend taking your dog here and I will be definitely coming back for my dog’s annual checkup.

Dr. Spellman has been caring for our dogs and cats for over 40 years, and we couldn’t ask for a better veterinarian. With more than 50 years of experience, he’s forgotten more than most vets will ever know. He never upsells or pushes unnecessary treatments—just honest, straightforward advice focused on what’s best for your pets. He’s also super reasonable with his pricing, which we truly appreciate. On top of that, he delivers it all with a great sense of humor that puts both pets and owners at ease. We trust him completely and are so grateful for his decades of dedicated care.

This was the most incredible amazing veterinarian. I’ve been to. My little girl, Lulu is usually afraid of veterinarians and she actually let the doctor do whatever he needed to do without fuss. This is a sign of a truly caring doctor. The staff are incredible to thank you for everything and you’ll definitely be Lulu‘s Doctor from now on.
