How to Save Money at ASAP Vet: Veterinary Urgent Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This place was incredible! My husband and I brought our lil man Jack here as he was only 13 weeks old and not doing well. After bringing him in he was diagnosed with the (P) word… “parvo”. We weren’t able to afford the full regimen needed to help our little boy but we did the initial antibiotics and fluids etc. We brought him home and stayed strong and positive along side the team here at ASAP Vet checking in daily I am so glad to report that our baby is in full health and back to his regular playful and feisty self!!!!! The staff here are super caring and are truly a blessing to me and my boys! Thank you ALL again!!! Brittany, David, and Jack🐾

Michelle, Sam, Gabby, & Kristin were so friendly, helpful, and informative! The services were super affordable, and we were able to get in the same day. They were fast, gentle, and very caring with my baby Zeus. The clinic was also clean, cute, and aesthetic inside. I honestly walked in thinking they’d charge me an arm and a leg, but the prices were totally reasonable! Highly recommend!

We recently had an emergency with our dog, Brody, and were truly impressed by the level of care we received from Dr. Spencer and the entire team at ASAP Vet. From the front desk to the veterinary staff, everyone was kind, efficient, and extremely knowledgeable. They acted quickly, kept us updated throughout the process, and thoroughly explained treatment options and next steps so we always felt informed and reassured. It was clear that they genuinely cared about Brody and treated him like their own. The facility was clean and well organized, and we felt our dog was in excellent hands the entire time. Emergency situations are never easy, but this team made a stressful moment so much better. We are incredibly thankful and would highly recommend ASAP Vet to anyone in need of emergency care.

No one ever wants to make an emergency visit to the vet, but this place is affordable and the people are so kind. I was stressed about my dog’s condition and they gave very clear explanations about everything they were planning on doing. Along with going over the lab results in plain terms. It honestly was the small details that made the biggest difference. They loved on my pup, gave me reassurance when appropriate, and at the end of our visit they took the time to draw a cute cowboy hat on our discharge bag (my dog’s name is cowboy!). They are very thoughtful. I don’t know very many urgent vets that call to check on their patients. This place was extremely homey and the people made a terrible situation not so terrible! Thank you Gabby, Emma, and Kristin. You guys are amazing.

This review is over due for 2 years and we are not sure if there are still the same vet and team here. We like to leave the review from our great experience here anyway. In Dec 2023 near the long holidays, we bought a 2-month old kitten from a breeder. We named him "Simba" and just a day after we got him, Simba suddenly stop eating and drinking. As well, he vomited a few times a day causing us extremely worried. We had no idea what happened and scared he might have been poison by something we didn't know of. At the afternoon until evening on Fri, we couldn't schedule any regular vet nearby or even a bit further away. Finally, we decided to take Simba to ASAP Vet: Veterinary Urgent Care since we worried that our very little kitten might have not survived the weekend. ASAP Vet very thoroughly checked on Simba and although the vet said it was hard to say for sure what was the reasons that caused Simba to vomit and stop eating and drinking. The vet helped inject a water ball in Simba's back to prevent him from dehydration. The vet and nurse also helped removing Simba's eye boogers. As you can tell from the photo, Simba had very tough eye boogers and they irritated his eye so much causing him unable to fully open one of his eye. We tried many times, but unable to wipe them off. ASAP knew how to do it by gently combing the hairs around his eye to remove his eye boogers out completely. As well, they provided us some eye cream to help with Simba's eye infections and in just 5 days, Simba eye got back to normally, clear, bright, and cheerful. After this visit, we were able to schedule Simba to see a regular vet at Georgetown Veterinary Hospital, but it was the worst experience. The vet there did a very quick and brutally check on our kitten and then she was repeatedly saying I had no idea. She didn't provide us anything to help our kitten. We didn't think she even cared if Simba wouldn't make it to survive. 3 days after that, Simba still refused to eat and drink. It was a long holidays, so we brought Simba back to ASAP and they injected another water ball into Simba's back and provided us a syringe and liquid food to try to inject the food and water directly into Simba's mouth. Another 2 full days of unsuccessfully having Simba eat or drink, my tear dropped. We decided to gently force and inject the water and liquid food into his mouth. Magical happened soon after that, Simba started to eat and drink by himself!!! You can tell how relieved and happy we were. Soon after that we learned indeed Simba having an anxiety from getting a new owner. Although we knew getting a new owner can be very stressful for a kitten and the kitten might have been hiding and fear, we never imagined a little kitten would be in much anxiety to vomit and stop eating and drinking completely for a week. We were and are still thankful to the vet and team here. Thanks God they open an urgent care for a special hour and during the weekend. Now, Simba is 2 year old and grew up to be a big beautiful boy. Life is always too busy. If we have time, we really want to take Simba to visit the vet and team again. Thus, they can meet the big boy whose life they saved. In short: - Highly recommended - Staff is kind, considerate, and care. - The price maybe a very little higher than a regular vet, but since it is an urgent care, so the price is quite a reasonable price. Not a ripe off for sure. - Clean and Bright and no smells
