How to Save Money at Forest Oaks Animal Hospital: Kleisch Rodger DVM

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Coble and Dr. Kleisch are exceptional veterinarians, and I can't recommend them highly enough. They consistently goes above and beyond for both his patients and their families. Most recently, our puppy, Max, needed surgery. Even though it was the July 4th weekend and Dr. Coble was off, he performed Max's surgery on Friday and personally kept him with him throughout the entire weekend to make sure he received the care and monitoring he needed. Knowing Max was in such capable and compassionate hands gave us tremendous peace of mind during a stressful time. Dr. Coble also cared for our sweet dog, Lilo, during her battle with cancer. He treated her with incredible kindness, dignity, and compassion every step of the way. He always took the time to check on her, answer our questions, and make sure we understood every option. His empathy meant just as much to us as his medical expertise. What sets Dr. Coble apart is that he genuinely cares. He never makes you feel rushed, he communicates clearly, and it's obvious that every animal he treats matters to him. His dedication extends far beyond regular office hours, and he consistently puts the well-being of his patients first. We are so grateful for everything he has done for Max, for the love and care he showed Lilo, our other pets through the years, and for the support he has given our family. If you're looking for a veterinarian who combines outstanding medical skill with genuine compassion, Dr. Coble is simply the best.

They accepted my cat Clowny Face in without an appointment. Clowny went missing 8 days and came home with half his neck split open by a dog attack. I am greatful. They care and did a phenomenal job!

Yet again, I am so very grateful to Forest Oaks Animal Hospital for lifesaving treatment for our pets. Less than a month ago, I brought in our 10 year old cat with an emergency- and the kindness and care- incredible. Early this morning our jack russell had an emergency, I was afraid it was her spinal cord, she is a senior dog that doesn’t act like it- I was able to get her seen as she was in awful pain. I was a wreck, the staff was top notch, loving professionals. Grateful for the care they have given her these years, her knee is back in place and we have a treatment plan to help her get back to a better place of wellness. They called twice to check in on Willow and me. Thank you so much. I highly recommend this wonderful place- and call me personally if you have questions. The relationship our family has had with Drs. Kleisch and Dr. Coble, and my husband’s family when they first opened- thank you most sincerely.

Had my appt to get my long haired cat a steroid shot for some skin irritation and a sanitary trim. They had me drop her off for the sanitary trim because they said she needed to be sedated and it would be later to pick her up. Get her home and let her out. No sanitary trim. I called and asked about it and they told me it was too short and there was nothing to trim and she would just get razor burns. Had her in there for a sanitary trim before and she was shaved around the backside no problem. Attaching photos of the "too short to trim" fur they couldn't trim. So they left my cat in a carrier for 6 and a half hours for a shot....I am not happy.

I was so happy I called this place because I was stressed. We had an emergency when my German Shepherd cut his foot badly, so I called a couple of places I had been to before, with no luck. I called Forest Oaks Animal Hospital, and they asked me if I could bring my pup right away. After getting there, they started working on him within the first 10 to 15 minutes we were there. The staff was kind and friendly, and everyone seemed to be great with big dogs (witch has been hard to find). I know I have now found my German Shepherd a new home for his vet. They were fantastic and knowledgeable. The vet tech even called to check on him after I brought him home that night. 100% is the best vet we have been to.
