How to Save Money at Flagler Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I had a wonderful experience at Flagler Animal Hospital. From the moment we walked in, everyone was welcoming and compassionate. The veterinarian took the time to truly listen to all of my concerns, never made me feel rushed, and explained everything thoroughly. She was kind, patient, and genuinely cared about my dog and making sure I felt comfortable with the plan of care. The veterinary technician was also fantastic—friendly, gentle, and professional. It’s clear that everyone there loves what they do and treats both pets and their owners with respect and compassion. I highly recommend Flagler Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a veterinary team that is knowledgeable, caring, and takes the time to listen. Thank you all for such a positive experience!

We brought our senior girl here in January. She was quite sick and I had given her permission to die. We had her evaluated at Flagler Animal Hospital and after a long talk with the doctor, we started her on some medication. Almost 4 months later she has gained 2 pounds and is living her best life. We cut her meds back this week. I actually believe she will make it to her 16th birthday on August 15. Dr. Smith, the vet techs, and all of the support staff are so kind. Dr. Smith explains everything clearly and I can tell he has my cat’s very best interest at heart. PHOTOS: Left side-January @ 4 lbs. Right side-May15 @ 6 lbs.

We are so grateful for the incredible care and compassion we received from the team during difficult time for our family. When our fur baby Lenny started having health issues, the staff was proactive, attentive, and truly caring every step of the way. Dr. Danielle Morosco was absolutely amazing. She showed so much kindness, patience, and compassion while helping us navigate Lenny’s condition and ultimately his passing. She took the time to explain everything, answer our questions, and support us through such an emotional experience. We will always be thankful for the love and care they showed Lenny and for the kindness they gave our family during such a difficult time.

March 5th, I dropped off a healthy puppy at the hands of what I thought were professionals. What was a routine 20-60 minute eye surgery turned resulted in the death of my little baby. I am not only hurt, I am baffled at the negligence of Flagler Animal Hospital. There are many inconsistencies with the records of the surgery, moments where it seemed my puppy was left un observed, overworked surgical techs admitting to their exhaustion, and so many variables that could have absolutely prevented in me leaving the hospital without my little guy. I urge anyone considering Flagler Animal Hospital to please reconsider. Please drive the extra hour to Jacksonville or another specialist, and please pay the extra hundred dollars instead of settling for this death trap. Not only was I robbed from getting to see my 1 year old pup grow and be my best friend for decades to come, Cosmo was robbed from his life at the hand of those we trusted with his life and care. Sleep in peace, Cosmo. You are missed by so many.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Flagler Animal Hospital. While I already trust them with all of my personal pets, a recent emergency involving a stray kitty reminded me why this clinic is truly in a league of its own. I found a stray cat that had been brutally attacked by a bobcat and was in desperate need of help. From the moment I called, Maria was an absolute angel. She was incredibly compassionate on the phone, guiding me through exactly what I needed to do. When I arrived, her kindness didn't waver—she made a stressful situation feel manageable immediately. The clinical team is equally stellar. Dixie, the Technician Supervisor, was so thorough and kind. She asked all the right questions to ensure the kitty got the best care possible. What really blew me away was that Dixie even took the time to call me after I left to provide an update on the kitty’s status. That level of follow-through is rare and so deeply appreciated. Dr. Morosco is, quite simply, amazing. She sat with me and truly listened—not just to the medical needs of the cat, but to my personal concerns for this stray’s future. She exceeded every expectation I had, reassuring me that the kitty would not only receive top-tier medical treatment but would be placed in good hands to find a forever home. The relief I feel knowing this injured soul is being cared for by such a professional, empathetic team is beyond incredible. If you are looking for a veterinary hospital in Palm Coast that treats every animal with the highest level of expertise and genuine heart, Flagler Animal Hospital is the place to go. Thank you, Maria, Dixie, and Dr. Morosco, for everything you do!
