Total disappointment I took my 8-month-old Australian Shepherd, Finn, to Banfield because one of his eyes had become pink and irritated. Before the veterinarian even examined him, a staff member attempted to sell us a pet insurance/preventive care plan. We explained that our priority was Finn’s eye and that we wanted to focus on addressing his medical issue first. After the examination, Finn was prescribed an antibiotic eye ointment. After several days, I felt the ointment was not adequately reaching or treating his eye, so I called Banfield and requested an oral antibiotic, believing it would be a better option for a young puppy. I did not receive a response for several days and had to call back again before a prescription was finally authorized. When I picked up the medication, I later discovered that it was an antihistamine—not an antibiotic as I had requested. No one informed me that the prescription had been changed or explained why an antihistamine was being prescribed instead. After starting the medication, I noticed Finn was scratching and itching more than before, which made me concerned that he might be reacting to it. I called Banfield again but did not receive a timely response. After calling back several days later, I spoke with a staff member and explained that I was very unhappy that I had unknowingly been giving my puppy an antihistamine when I had specifically requested an antibiotic. I was told to bring Finn back in and that there would be no charge for the visit. The staff member also suggested that I see a different veterinarian rather than the one who had originally treated him. At Finn’s appointment today, however, the veterinarian refused to even look at his eye unless I first paid a $55 examination fee. I explained that I had been told there would be no charge because of the confusion surrounding the prescription and the lack of communication. Despite that, the veterinarian would not examine Finn without payment. Since I was not willing to pay another examination fee simply to have his eye looked at after the issues we had already experienced, we left without him being seen. This experience was extremely disappointing. My concerns about my puppy’s health were overshadowed by poor communication, confusion regarding his medication, and inconsistent information from the staff. As a pet owner, I expected clear explanations, timely follow-up, and continuity of care—not conflicting information and an unwillingness to address my puppy’s medical concern without additional charges after being told otherwise.

The nurse and doctor were very nice and informative but the wait time is a bit long to leave. I had to step out of the room and ask if the nurse was done seeing my pet. The front desk lady called her on the phone and then she advised me that she was done. So that was a bit aggravating that she never came back to the room after the doctor was seeing my pet to release us. But over all they were nice!

I've only been there once but had a really good feeling bringing my pup here. When I needed a refill on the meds, it was handled promptly. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

My dog Missy who is a 17 yr old shih tzu who is on thyriod medicine came in for a refill. Dr. Eric James was very knowledgeable and gave me all the options of treatment. It was so nice to have a vet be professional and not be a salesman like most vets.This is why I choose Banfield because it's always the best!!!

Today I saw Kaitlyn for my dogs appointment. She was so kind to me & my dog. She was very knowledgeable and actually cared about my dogs health and well being. The Dr I saw spent a lot of time with me explaining everything in depth to help me understand what was going on. He even printed papers for me to read on my dogs condition. Highly recommend!
