Elliott, My Million Dollar Beagle

I can finally write this review without crying. We lost "our boy" Elliott, November 1st. Elliott was a fighter, and Trupanion allowed us to help him fight. He was initially diagnosed with Cushing's disease and Diabetes. Because of the Diabetes, he got Cataracts. He had eye surgery to remove the Cataracts and ended up in the Emergency Hospital because of a muciseal. Elliott ended up losing his right eye, was on daily vetsulin shots, medication for the Cushing's disease and supplements for his liver. We ended up in the Emergency Hospital several more times for low blood sugar/high blood sugar, tremors and urinary tract infections. You can only imagine what all of these Vet bills amounted to, considering every time you walk in the door of the Emergency Vet Hospital its $1K! Trupanion covered it all at 90%. All of the Emergency room visits, all of the Specialists, all of the daily medicines, eye drops and supplements. They even covered prescription dog food. Trupanion allowed us to give Elliott the best care possible, and not worry about money. Trupanion allowed Elliott to live his best life, and leave on Elliott's terms. We will always be grateful for that.

Superior and prompt customer service. Every step of the claim process was explained in detail. Anyone I spoke with was extremely kind and understanding of my heartbreak going through this painful time of my dogs illness. Thankfully, Aspen is healthy, happy and back to his playful self. Truly a life saver

I've had my miniature dachshund since he was 6 weeks old. As soon as he was eligible (I think he was 3 months), I decided to insure him. After researching all the available companies, I went with Trupanion. The very first claim I filed was when he was 4 years old. I'm not going to lie, the experience with the first claim was horrible. I believe it was because I had moved and did not have his actual medical records and was not able to obtain them from the now out of state veterinarians. In 2018, I decided I was just going to cancel (mainly based on the first claim experience). I am so grateful to the representative that assured me that all claims for his IVDD would be approved. He just underwent spinal surgery today and if I did not have Trupanion, I would not have been able to afford his surgery. Trupanion truly saved my dog's life.

This pet insurance is a scam. Don’t waste your time or money.

Showed the Vet what Trupanion said and why they stated they wouldn’t cover any cost. Vet agreed they are wrong and they will no longer advertise this product.

We love Trupanion

After losing our first Norwich Terrier to UAS and the treatment we received from a well known company leaving us with vet bills that required mortgaging our home we have been so happy with Trupanion. The policy is clear. I know what to expect from them. There is never a problem and everyone treats me like a friend and really cares about me and my Norwich babies. One representative talked me through a meltdown when I found out my 10 year old twin soul had cancer. I will never forget her. I cannot say enough good things about Trupanion. I highly recommend them. Thank you Trupanion.

Monthly Cost

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.

Coverage

Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.

Payout Limits

The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit. That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.

Deductible

If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.

Age Limits

All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting Period

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details. However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
