BEWARE: Turned down all doctor's consults after I paid them $6000.00 in premiums over 5 years

During the past 5 years we have had Trupanion pet insurance for our 4 pets, premiums have totaled approximately $6000.00. I recently had my first significant claim when our basset hound developed glaucoma. Since we have $1000 deductible, I submitted all the receipts totally approximately $1250.00. I was told by their representative that evaluations and diagnostics were covered, but Trupanion disallowed all these claiming that these were merely "exams". My dog has had over 13 appointments to diagnosis his eyesight and adjust his medications, and Trupanion did not pay for a doctor's' appointment even when an ophthalmologist was involved! The representative advised me to appeal and have the doctors code the visits as diagnostic evaluations. I did so and asked my veterinarian to send me an email as soon as this was faxed to Trupanion. I ACTUALLY RECEIVED TRUPANION'S DENIAL OF THE APPEAL BEFORE I RECEIVED OUR VET'S EMAIL. I called my vet to save the records and advised them to NEVER recommend Trupanion again. Trupanion took my $6000, but refused to pay for any diagnostic evaluations done in a doctor's office. Attorneys: I recommend class action.

Broken molar

This was the first time I had filed a claim with Trupanion, and it couldn’t have been any easier! I downloaded the claim form, faxed it off with my invoices and in less than a week I was reimbursed via direct deposit! Will definitely recommend Trupanion to everyone I know!

Trupanion Ins Co is the most caring, concerned and prompt company. I don't have to worry about paying my vet bills because I know Trupanion will be there for me. Pepe's life has been extended by going on a year now, and I owe it all to being able to pay for his vet bills with no worries because I know I will be receiving a check from Trupanion in a very timely manner. Thank you for being there for all of pet lovers.

i have had two experiences where my dog…

i have had two experiences where my dog has eaten part of a toy and ended up at the emergency vet. After the first time, I thought I had removed all possible dangers but he may have dug up something that had been buried. At any rate, Trupanion saved my financial life. Hopefully, this will never happen again.

Trupanion is a Lifesaver

I have had to file a claim twice. My little chihuahua mix is quite the adventurer. He had a rattlesnake bite about 2 years ago and he had some type of poisonous illness at the beginning of this year. Trupanion was very quick with approving my claims. The filing process was very easy. I recommend Trupanion for any pet owner. They have literally saved his life and my pockets...TWICE.

Monthly Cost

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.

Coverage

Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.

Payout Limits

The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit. That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.

Deductible

If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.

Age Limits

All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting Period

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details. However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
