Two years ago my first claim experience with Trupanion was excellent.
My current experience with two claims for my pup Tom started out a nightmare. The person who initially handled the claims was slipshod. Yes there was a super quick "turn around" (less than 48 hours) but what good is quick turn around if work is not accurate or thorough? Upon notification of claim result I was extremely angry and felt cheated. Though it was a Sunday I called and spoke with Katie.
Katie is super stellar. She LISTENS, asks good questions, is able to analyze the information while being extremely pleasant, reassuring, caring, polite. Because our conversation was on a Sunday Katie was not able to contact a supervisor and resolve the issue. She assured me my claim would be reviewed and properly handled.
The second claim for Tom's same illness was quickly "handled" in the same careless, slipshod manner as the first claim.
I called again. Rebecca handled the call for the second claim in much the same manner as Katie. Both Katie and Rebecca are exceptional representatives of Trupanion.
The two claims submitted have not been completely resolved.
Trupanion needs to "retrain" (or fire) clerks who initially handled the claims I submitted.
Katie and Rebecca need to be recognized for their skills and exceptional representation of Trupanion.
By the way, a third claim for Tom's illness will be submitted this week. I can't wait to see how this one will be handled.
During the 8 plus years my Pups have been insured by Trupanion I have recommended the insurance to several pet parents. Linda Van Loan
