Do Not Buy Trupanion
I have had the worst experience with Trupanion insurance. They go out of their way to cover nothing. My pet had a wound on her paw and they told me it was a pre-existing condition and refused to cover it. I have spent over $7000 on pet care in the past year while paying $153 a month for Trupanion and not gotten a single dime from them. Do not waste your money on this company. I wish I could get all the money I've wasted back to pay for my pet's medical needs.

Company does a great job of taking your money monthly but will find any reason not to cover your pet!
I signed my dog up for Trupanion on 5/20/18 when she was about 9 months old thinking it would be a great way to assure we can keep her healthy as possible without busting the bank. What a bad idea, I do not reccomend this company. At $52 a month for the highest possibly deductible of $1000 they will find any which way simply take your money monthly, and deny any coverage of your pet.
I was told they will not cover allergy shots for my dog that would come in at $92 monthly and would be life changing for her since she is losing fur around her paws, chewing excessively, itching and bleeding; because our veterinarian gave us ear drops that can also be used to treat ear infections when she was 4 months old.
I kept my paperwork from all veterinarians for the lifetime of my dog and Trupanion stated she was treated on 10/4/17 for an ear infection which was incorrect, when I showed proof that she wasn't and ASKED if they could show me THEIR proof of her being treated I was told they could not show me the proof that they could go by because it's a violation of privacy?? Like my dogs a human and I don't pay them monthly for the policy?? I was told to submit an appeal with the help of my current vet which I have no faith in after reading reviews on here. I am going to be canceling my policy with Trupanion and finding a policy with a more trusted company. I hold pet owners to this, beware Trupanion is a scam! They will take your money and will not help you or your dog in return.

2 Operations, 2 days, NO HASTLES
My 11 year old Lab shattered his leg. first surgery to repair, two days later another to amputate the leg. Over $15000.00 and I paid only my deductable of $500.00. No problems, no questions, just paid almost immediately. Can't say enough good about Trupanion.

Best pet insurance on the planet!
Trupanion is a refreshing and professional organization to deal with. Claims are conveniently entered online and there is is an almost immediate response from the Trupanion staff. Claims are quickly adjudicated and funds are sent directly to my checking account. No surprises. No disappointments.
Monthly Cost
Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.
Coverage
Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.
Payout Limits
The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit.
That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.
Deductible
If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.
Age Limits
All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details.
However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
