I am very disgusted by trupanion

I am very disgusted by trupanion. I have a puppy. A little over a year old she is a chocolate lab. I never thought in a million years that my puppy has diabetes. But completely after my puppy was covered by trupanions insurance (which they claim to cover all costs of new diagnoses 90%) denied my puppy coverage and deemed it a preexisting medical condition. We never knew she had diabetes until she slipped into a very fast and very sporadic pre ketoacidosis episode which put her into the hospital, we didn’t know if she would make it out. She was diagnosed almost 3-4 months after being put on trupanion insurance with juvenile diabetes. I don’t know if we’ll be able to pay for her medications that she needs for survival. And fast claims payment? It has taken over a month just to get a response from them! They have tried everything in the book to deny my poor puppy of coverage. So, I would personally just save my money if I were any type of concerned pet owner. And just pray that super rare tragedies like juvenile diabetes doesn’t strike your little puppy because trupanion definitely will not be there in your time of need for your dog. We’re planning to cancel our insurance plans on all 3 of our dogs as we’ll need this extra money a month to set aside to pay for our little puppies treatments. Trupanion is definitely worried about their money as juvenile diabetes means a life sentence of 90% coverage instead of an 8 year old dog having end of life diabetes. They are not trupanions and don’t care anything about your furry friend. Just keep looking if you want a good pet insurance company. I know this one sounds good but it definitely isn’t.

Trupanion was there when we needed them...

I have nothing but amazing things to say about Trupanion. We were initially "sold" this company by our local veterinarian upon the very first visit of our new puppy, and I was quite suspicious at first. However, over the years we battled various ailments and Trupanion covered everything they said they would as per insurance coverage they outline in the policy. There were never any surprises, the reimbursement was always timely and claim submission process itself is extremely easy. Unfortunately, our Jasper has recently passed away due to cancer, but we are so thankful to this company because they were always there even when he was very sick and required expensive meds. From the bottom of our hearts - thank you Trupanion.

Monthly Cost

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.

Coverage

Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.

Payout Limits

The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit. That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.

Deductible

If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.

Age Limits

All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting Period

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details. However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
