Trupanion plays games with deductibles so they Don't have to pay you

So my 8-year-old girl that has been insured with trupanion for almost 8 years recently had a bout of endometritis. On the claim form I claimed endometritis as she has had that a few times in the past. After this claim, her deductible of $400 would have been met. Trupanion changed the condition to " discharge" instead of endometriosis which then they could again charge me my full deductible of $400. That's how they get around not paying people because their deductibles are based on condition not per year. My invoice was for $700 and Trupanion paid me $100.Watch out for this company. They used to be really great but they have changed from an ethical upstanding company to one that scams you. In addition, they say that their website has been upgraded but it barely works and their owner's portal does not work at all!

Costly Poor Coverage

I cannot say enough negative about Trupanion. They will find any excuse not to pay a claim (and I don't make many). Dog had an ear infection and they refused to pay because they said that he had a prior record of allergies. Putting aside that the allergies to which they refer turned out to be a behavioral issue and not allergies the doctor said this was no an allergy. On medicine if I buy it CHEAPER from the doctor's online pharmacy they will not pay the shipping charge which when combined with the costs of the medicine is less than buyi9ng it from the office. Yet they prefer to pay the higher amount. They blame the DVM for their slow processing of claims. I was with Pet Plan for 10 years and they were flawless but they no longer are seemingly around. I have to imagine that most of the other underwriters are better than Trupanion. Steer clear of Trupanion.

Definitely Life Changing!

I got my puppy insured as soon as I adopted him, and I am thankful I did! With an unknown autoimmune disorder, my dog is virtually allergic to most foods, and trupanion has allowed me to do all the necessary testing and treatment that I otherwise would not be able to afford. I am so thankful I went with Trupanion!

90/10 policy not really 90/10

I jave a 90/10 policy but the first time I ever had to use this for an emergency out of my 636 dollar vet bill I had to pay 432. Thought it would be lower. The only good thing I can say is my vet uses Trupanion and th bill was paid at the vet right after release of my dog. That part was easy

Monthly Cost

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.

Coverage

Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.

Payout Limits

The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit. That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.

Deductible

If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.

Age Limits

All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting Period

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details. However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
