Where do I begin with what Trupanion…
Where do I begin with what Trupanion has done for us? In February of 2018, an 8 week old Border Pyrenees came in to our lives. Quirky, energetic and simply a bundle of joy we named him Giuseppe. He was the perfect mix of black and white with a white area on his head that was shaped like a heart. All went well with him until he was 3 months shy of his 2nd birthday. He took a tumble chasing a squirrel and began limping a bit. We thought it would go away but after 2 days of limping we thought he might have broken something or sprained his ankle but alas, it was much worse. He was a million to one case. Giuseppe had a developing cancerous tumor in his leg and it had to be amputated. Trupanion was there for us. His surgery was approved and on 1/1/20 he became a tripawd, a term used for 3 legged dogs. It was his front leg. They paid 90% of the cost of the surgery and all follow ups and meds needed post operatively. Giuseppe adapted and shortly did everything he did on 4 legs. He was a wonder to behold. His great spirit and constant joyful personality never faded. In March, we were hit with more terrible news. We had found a small lump on his chest close to his private part. Again Trupanion was there. More tests and biopsies done to conclude it was cancer again. We were heartbroken. We took him to UC Davis where our only option for him was to do 2 types of chemo, one being extremely dangerous. They could not identify his type of cancer so they were just guessing and Trupanion would have covered his treatments but my wife and I decided to let him live in peace for whatever time he had left. We were told 1-2 months left before he was gone. However Giuseppe would have none of it. We treated him with an anti cancer diet and supplements we paid for and other prescribed meds that Trupanion covered bi monthly for the rest of his life. That life turned out to be a miracle. Our beautiful Giuseppe beat all the odds and vets watched him in wonder as his months turned in to an additional 2 and a half years. In total he lived 4 and a half years when every vet said he would not live past 2 years old. Our family and Giuseppe owe all the extra years to prayer and all the treatment that Trupanion covered promptly, right up to his euthanasia on 6/6/2022. Every day with him was a joy and he was happy right up to his final moment. We only had to do it because his tumor became so large that we worried it would rupture or crush his organs. In closing I'd like to say that we would have never been able affird him all of the life he could live, without this great pet insurance company. God bless you all at Trupanion, and if I had a son or daughter that worked for Trupanion I would be the proudest father on earth. A million thanks to your wonderful company. All our pets will have Trupanion as their pet insurance in the future. PS-They paid all claims for his care so promptly that we just couldn't believe it.
