Made what could be a hard few months much easier.

I signed my two cats up for Trupanion a few years ago. I recently took one of them into the vet for hepatic lipidosis and was told that the underlying cause was cancer. Treating the hepatic lipidosis itself was expensive, but making a decision about chemotherapy would've been impossible without Trupanion. I only had to pay the deductible once, since Trupanion recognized that these two conditions were associated. The claims process is easy and quick. All interactions I've had with Trupanion on the phone or via email have been professional and caring. They even were able to predict my needs and set me up for direct deposit and sent me pre-approval forms so that I could get my pet the best possible care. It took a lot of stress out of the decision-making process and has allowed us to improve her quality of life. Pets are our family and Trupanion's family, too.

Very Happy with Trupanion

We purchased our pet health insurance several hers ago when she was healthy, and as she grew older we were so happy we did it. he now has a heart condition and is blind, but still a happy and feisty little girl. Trupanion has come through every step of the way as we have cared for our Dachsie's unique health problems. She has a great life, and we haven;t thought twice about getting her the treatment she needs. Trupanion insurance has given us a level of comfort and peace of mind that we really appreciate.

Very Helpful Product

My cat Sapphire developed renal disease a couple of years ago (he is currently 18 years old now). I have had no issues with Trupanion's handling of my cat's renal claims, and have received timely processing, and payments after I exceeded the deductible. The insurance will definitely pay for itself, as even one small incident can turn into a large vet bill quickly. Very good investment to have for your pet, definitely recommend it.

Best money ever spent

My yellow Lab's been with Trupanion since he was 6-months, and needed assistance with spinal issues before age 2. My boy is now 10 and his coverage has paid 90% of meds, operations, accidents, and special treatments. My vet faxes in the form and I'm reimbursed quickly. Excellent insurance model + caring staff = happy customer!

Trupanion does not pay out .

Trupanion sold me insurance in when speaking with them in the beginning I told them that when my dog when was four months old she broke leg in her growth plate , Trupanion rep said no problem it was done by speacialist it's fine your dog is covered and it's been about 9 years since it happened . So I had my dog brought in because she pulled a muscle in 2012 and it was no big deal doctor gave her a shot and she has been fine since . This year I brought my dog to speacialist because she was limping thinking it was a torn ACL well had a pre approval from Trupanion to go ahead on coverage .so I gave speacialist the dog . Speacialist said not torn ACL it is little iriatation at the joint . I said great dog got a shot of somthing to set a cushion between the joint dog has been great no problems . Time goes by I get a letter from Trupanion saying sorry we are not covering the ACL tear , it has to do with dog breaking its leg 9 years ago mind you they had already pre approved it. And it wasn't the ACL , so I figured let me call them and tell them it's not the ACL and that it was iriatation and shot cost like $1000 dollars because they have to put the dog under and it's a speacial joint shot , ACL would have cost 3000-5000. So the speacialist calls Trupanion trying to help me tells them not ACL just joint iriatation . Has nothing to do with ACL . I get a letter from apeals department saying no we are not paying this claim denied . Isn't having Trupanion Terrific Call them again they say no we're not covering dog broke her leg 9 years ago So could be why she had iratation . Imagine 9 years ago dog has been fine and is fine now they then say it's chronic so we're not covering I said dog is fine no problems walks runs how can it be chronic ????? If it was she would still have the issue . They said all we can legally do is go by her past and that we love dogs so much I herd legal word used 10 times in five minutes another to bad.

Monthly Cost

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.

Coverage

Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.

Payout Limits

The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit. That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.

Deductible

If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.

Age Limits

All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting Period

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details. However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
