My 10 year old Jack Russell had her eye removed in January due to glaucoma. I received generous reimbursement from the initial procedure as well as her follow up care. Trupanion is quick and hassle free. Often times I have an email explaining what will be covered within hours of submitting a claim and a check a few days later.

saved my dogs life
My dog came to us at 4 months old with a weak immune system. We didn't know of course, at 5 months, he needed a tooth out but we had just sgned up for Trupanion and at that time they didn't reimburse for any dental. Now, they will reimburse extractions. at 7 months he got an ear infection and started having chronic diarrhea that persisted until he was finally diagnosed with severe allergies to most proteins and patch tested which proved he had a myriad of environmental allergies; tress, molds, dust, grass, weeds...etc... also including, allergy to cats and wool.
We spent the next 4 years dealing with that. Trupanion came through to pay the 90% of all medications and treatments. They don't pay Vet's fee's, which can get expensive but, when you have bills that are upward to $10,000.00 obviously, it helps!!!
Unfortunately Trupanion doesn't consistently pay for Prescription Food which is very expensive and the ONLY food our dog can eat without having horrid reactions.
We were stable for a few years there on our expensive sub-lingual vaccine, which Trupanion pays 90% for but then just a few months after his 4th birthday, he came down with ITP. He almost died and the thing that saved him was a $2,000 dollar blood transfusion for which Trupanion reimbursed us the 90% on! We were fortunate enough to only have to give him one BLood transfusion treatment dose, some have to get it 2 or 3 times!
The bill when we took him from the Hospital a week after going in was $11,450.00, so, needless to say, Trupanion helped us save our baby's life!
We're taxed as it is right now with the $3k we've spent out of pocket, but grateful we got this insurance plan because we love our dog and his ailments are still happening.
I would suggest EVERYONE get insurance for their beloved pet! The way things are today with all the odd diseases and the over Vaccinating (it's probably a 99% chance the reason our dog is so sick! he was over vaccinated when he was too young!) you never know what will hit them.
Thank goodness I had Trupanion. My Doodle swallowed a wing nut and a 1 1/2" bolt and two large pieces of plastic from the water dish attached to his kennel. An endoscopy removal kept us from having to do surgery. Trupanion checked with me after each interaction I had with them to make sure I had received satisfactory service. And we promptly received a 90% reimbursement with in a few days. I am recommending them to every dog owner I know! Thank you Trupanion!

Trupanion: The Greatest Pet Insurance

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.
Coverage
Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.
Payout Limits
The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit.
That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.
Deductible
If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.
Age Limits
All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details.
However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
