Trupanion made it extremely easy for me …

Trupanion made it extremely easy for me to make decision on Luke's healthcare needs. He was hit by a truck and needed to have his pelvis screwed back together. Knowing that Trupanion had Luke covered, it made me worry a lot less and focus on his rehabilitation. Luke is making a full recovery and he wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Trupanion.

Pepper's Unexpected Difficulty

Pepper McDuff and Finnegan Patrick are our two Irish Setters. We have been a family of setters for quite a while. Unfortunately, one of our earlier ones, Murphy Patrick by name, needed quite a bit of medical attention and ultimately had to be put down before he was three. All avenues of treatment had been pursued to no avail. Time does heal and we were finally ready to invite another Irish into our home. Her name is Pepper and she arrived at 10 months old.because of our experience with Murphy we looked into acquiring pet insurance and after much research decided that Trupanion was the BEST! In early 2017, Pepper (now about 7 1/2 years old) had routine surgery. The surgery itself was a success but while under anesthesia, Pepper had stomach acid come up through her esophagus (acid reflux) causing an esophageal stricture (ulcer). Although this happens rarely, it does occasionally occur. This strictures prevented her from getting food to her stomach and she lost quite a bit of weight! Another side effect of her surgery was aspiration pneumonia. Pepper has since had numerous endoscopies and balloon dilutions to open her esophagus so she can eat. Everything must be blended to the consistency of tomato purée. She has had at least 7 or 8 of these procedures. Thus far the cost of these treatments have been well over nine thousand dollars and I am happy to say that Trupanion has been there for us every step of the way, immediately reimbursing us at 90%. It is unclear at this point how many more treatments Pepper will have to undergo but we have been assured that they too will be taken care of. As I mentioned earlier, we have another Setter named Finn who is insured as well. Trupanion has taken care of a very costly leg infection and eyelid surgery. Again, Trupanion was there for us, paying 90% after our deductible was met. The reimbursement was handled very quickly. Everyone we have ever dealt with at this company has been FANTASTIC and we highly recommend it. All pet owners should avail themselves to what Trupanion has to offer. It is an outstanding company.

A highly valued partner

Trupanion has come through for my family brilliantly. I considered dropping the coverage when my dog was younger and it seemed like just an extra expense. However he then developed a tumor and tendon problems which would have cost me in excess of $10k. I'm incredibly fortunate to have stayed with Trupanion and to have been covered for expenses my family simply could not have afforded. I tell anyone I meet with a dog to look at Trupanion.

This is a fantastic company

This is a fantastic company! The policies are clear, well-laid out, and adhered to by representatives. There is no fighting with someone on the phone about a claim, or uncertainty that an emergency will be covered. Premiums and deductibles are reasonable. Customer service is wonderful - the staff is immediately responsive, and the are NICE PEOPLE! Anytime I have had to call, the first question I am asked is how my pet is doing. Once claims are approved, I have the cheque in less than a week. We have had several issues with multiple pets and each one is handled with care and dignity...and my premiums did not jump up. I could not ask for better service. I always say that my pets have far better health insurance than I do! Thanks, Trupanion!

Monthly Cost

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.

Coverage

Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.

Payout Limits

The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit. That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.

Deductible

If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.

Age Limits

All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting Period

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details. However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
