Pets can be full of surprises-so their insurance coverage shouldn’t be. That’s why Trupanion is dedicated to helping pets we love get the care they need. They’ve been around for more than 20 years, making them experts and setting standards for the industry. One perk of this, and what they pride themselves on, is the amount they pay out to pet owners for each claim. Paying out more on the dollar than any other pet insurance provider. To date they have paid out $2 Billion in claims and have insured nearly 1 million pets. Trupanion pets lead longer happier lives.1 Pets insured with Trupanion lived longer than pets without Trupanion because pet parents didn’t have to worry about the cost of the care their pet needed. Depending on the plan Trupanion covers up to 90% of eligible expenses, has unlimited payouts-always, and can pay your vet bill, within seconds, at time of checkout, so all you pay is your portion (anything not covered by Trupanion). They have transformed the way pet insurance handles claims by eliminating the reimbursement process. To put it simply, there is a reason why 98.7% of Trupanion members stay enrolled every month. 1 Based on a November 2020 internal study analyzing third party hospital claims data comparing pets insured with a Trupanion policy to pets without a Trupanion policy. * Terms and Conditions apply. Excellent coverage and response

Our dog had a suspected herniated disk which required immediate care. I called Trupanion. Within an hour, they got in touch with our vet and the veterinary hospital where we had been referred, got the necessary paperwork sent off, and by the time we walked in for the consult the next AM, had a preapproval for testing. Calvin was seen by a neurologist, underwent an MRI, and was diagnosed with a ruptured cervical disk as the result of degenerative disk disorder. He had the necessary surgery the next AM and spent 3 days in ICU. Trupanion paid for 90% of the total bill after our $100 deductible. Since this was a $6000 procedure, it was a huge savings for us. Trupanion has agreed to cover whatever care is needed should this happen again. That is great piece of mind.

Very Fast & Responsive

Nathan required two visits to completely (I hope!)deal with his digestive issues. I have absolutely no complaints with how the claims were handled. Bear Creek Vet filed the claims. I received confirmation of claims' receipt, claim amount that would be paid and notification that payment had been made.

a huge comfort

I enrolled my 3 cats after an awful ordeal with another cat where we had to pay out of pocket over $12,000 for an unexpected illness. Since being enrolled in Trupanion, i have been impressed with their efficiency. I am so happy not to have to worry about the expense of dealing with a sick pet...one less thing to worry about! Joinig Trupanion was an excellent decision.

Pleasantly surprised!

We have never had pet insurance in our 35 year marriage, until 3 months ago after adopting another kitten. We have had a total of 4 cats in 35 years and until our third kitten, all had been healthy and lived 14 plus years. But last December we adopted our little angel Bruce Wayne. We had just lost another angel "Sammy" to a stroke at 17 years old. After only a week I knew I was ready and we got Bruce. He was a special needs kitten as they told us. He had been to 2 shelters and had been treated for everything imaginable. At the time of adoption he was in treatment for Ringworm, but 10 days later we found out that he had not been contagious at the time of adoption...yay! But that exhilaration was short lived. He was in the vet for his well kitten check-up and the doctor heard a heart murmur, then noticed his fur on his ears and belly were sparse. She decided not to worry, as he had just finished 6 weeks of oral meds and shampoos for the fungus. He also had been sneezing and had the occasional cough. The cough did concern her, as he was a short hair and didn't shed. After many visits over the weeks and months that followed, he had been diagnosed with Asthma and allergies to environmental things. He was happy and energetic all the while, so I thought we were going to be okay! He had been put on a gel form of prednisone for the itching due to his allergies, and his fur came back in thick on his belly...not so much on his ears. He had been on the ear gel for a couple months, when his doctor referred us to a Dermatologist. He decided to put him on a lower dose of a oral steroid and hopefully to get him on an injectable soon after. Within a 2 week period, I noticed some changes in Bruce. He began eating less and sleeping in unusual places. He also began sitting in what they call the "Pain Pose". I took him into the vet and she was doing her usual exam, when he cried at the slight touch of his belly. She ordered an X-ray to see if possibly there was a blockage. In a 20 min time frame our world was turned upside down! Bruce likely had FIP, it's not cure able and causes fluid build up in the abdomen. There are two forms of the disease, wet and dry....he had both! We ran every conceivable test to be sure as we could that this was what it was. Three days later and multiple emergency trips to our vet, we let him go. We had our vet perform an exploratory surgery, in one last hope that he had something they couldn't see.

Monthly Cost

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.

Coverage

Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.

Payout Limits

The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit. That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.

Deductible

If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.

Age Limits

All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting Period

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details. However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like: Examination fees Wellness and preventive care Elective, or cosmetic procedures Sales tax, where applicable Like many other pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions. Whichever insurer you choose, it pays to enroll early! * Terms and Conditions apply. Coverage may vary by state. Not all veterinarians accept direct payment.
