Reg. Vet Tech here.. Shame on you Trupanion!

One of Trupanion's number one marketing claims is that you only pay a deductible ONCE PER CONDITION. Well today I found out that that is not actually the case. My cat had a dental with extractions in 2014 and the CONDITION that he has that causes his teeth to need to be extracted is Feline Odontoclastic Resorptive Lesions. This is a genetic, immune mediated condition that cats get and have their whole lives. Yesterday, I sent in a claim for another a dental with extractions, the reason he needed extractions this time? You guessed it! Feline Odontoclastic Resorptive Lesions.. so I was absolutely shocked when it came back as being applied to my deducible. Applied to my deductible?!? I already paid that back in 2014. When I called their customer support number, the girl on the phone told me that it "was like having an ear infection 3 years apart from each other, they aren't actually the same condition". Well as Registered Veterinary Technician I say that is 100% BS! Anyways, I am waiting for someone to call me back but I suspect I won't get anywhere with it. I though Trupanion was different but apparently they are just like all the other insurance companies out there. Do yourself a favour and do what I should have done.. work out what your monthly premium would be and put it into a high interest savings account.

Awesome!!

I didn't know what to expect upon my need of your company with a claim. I can't say enough good things about you. The vet hospital took Franks policy number and everything was looked after by the stafff there. I was so upset by my dauschunds condition I was not capable of dealing with the paperwork. I didn't have to and your company was speedy with an approval for the vets request for surgery etc. Frank was in surgery within 4 1/2 hours from paralyzation and I feel that this is so important to his recovery. Again, you have come thru with post-op therapy. Thank you. Our bills are over $8700 at this point and I have paid about $2200 only. I would not have been able to afford all these bills on my own. Best thing I have ever done getting insurance.

Excellent financial protection for your pet

Trupanion offers straightforward and reliable coverage in addition to excellent customer service and a very well-designed website. Both my husband and I are veterinarians and we could not afford our veterinary fees without Trupanion.

You NEED Trupanion

This is my second review and it probably will not be my last because I cannot stress enough how fantastic trupanion is. They have been life savers for our family. Trupanion is very straight forward clear and simple no hidden rules no loop holes no crazy catches. They are fast and do not give you any run around when filing claims and getting reimbursed for medical costs. Also their customer service representatives are patient compassionate and very informed. Oh and another good thing once trupanion is with you they are there for life! They won't drop you because your pet is actually really sick.... imagine that?! So yes I love trupanion I could go on and on....thanks trupanion for making it possible for us to provide the care our little penny needs to literally stay alive on a daily basis. Penny is our 7 month old boxer she has pancreatic insufficiency and needs pancreatic enzymes for the rest of her life...and let me tell you they aren't cheap...wouldn't be able to do it without trupanion! Trupanion is fantastic!

Trupanion has been there for me and my 9 mos old puppy who had to have extensive surgery on her hind leg. The recovery period for the puppy will be 4 mos. The Vet Clinic faxed the claim and Trupanion e-mailed me immediately that they were reviewing the claim. Within the next 3-4 days they emailed me that claim was approved and check was on its way. This was a 4K surgery and Trupanion paid the 90%. I was ecstatic! Anytime I have called Trupanion they have been very professional and exhibit a true caring for animals. I have had many pets and this is the first time I have purchased pet insurance. I would recommend Trupanion to any pet owner.

Monthly Cost

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.

Coverage

Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.

Payout Limits

The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit. That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.

Deductible

If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.

Age Limits

All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting Period

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details. However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
