Literally a Lifesaver

We have been a Trupanion policyholder for years. We currently have 4 dogs and 1 cat - all insured by Trupanion - however, have had other pets previously insured. Trupanion was there to help us with expenses when our cat was diagnosed with cancer. They also helped with our dog who developed kidney disease. Both of these pets eventually passed away, however, Trupanion helped to extend their lives and their quality of lives with their 90% reimbursements. It was peace of mind knowing that once we met our deductible, we were reimbursed at 90% for their medications and tests. Trupanion allows you to fluctuate your monthly premiums depending on the deductible that you choose. This is very helpful in a multiple-pet household. The claims service is easily done online and the turnaround (direct deposit) is usually within a few days. You can file claims immediately or stockpile them in batches - which makes them even more convenient. Once the claim form, for a single incident, is signed by the doctor, you can re-use it - so you don't have to carry claim forms to the vet. The insurance portal is also convenient to use. Our pets are a part of our family and we would NEVER consider not having insurance on them - just as we wouldn't for our human members. Being avid pet owners, we have tried other pet insurance companies, however, we have found Trupanion to be the best. Trupanion is well worth the premiums to give you the peace of mind to know that you have help with the financial burdens of your pets' illnesses.

Thankful for Trupanion

A year ago my dog was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. She has spent a lot of time in the ER/ICU for oxygen therapy. Trupanion has paid 90% of everything except the exam fees. They even reimbursed me for the equipment so I could do the oxygen therapy at home.

Wonderful to cover expensive care for each recurring condition that were not eliminated by pre-existing conditions

It is critical to get insurance for your beloved pets before they develop pre-existing conditions. Even younger animals may require expenses for recurring conditions, especially expensive medications or supplements for example with allergies. Be careful in determining your deductible. The deductible applies to each condition. The total amount of a vet invoice will be divided by condition as shown on the invoice with consultation with the vet. Also, there is no compensation for doctors and consulting vet fees. After the deductible for a condition is met, compensation is paid out. The value of pet insurance is really in providing a cost safety net for recurring, expensive conditions such as kidney disease, cancer, allergic skin conditions, heart problems, pancreatitis, ear or eye problems.

Wonderful company!!!

Trupanion is wonderful. They are prompt and very fair in handling claims. Being a retiree and widow I know I️ can obtain the care my dogs need without the worry of how I️ can afford their care. Thank you, Trupanion!

Monthly Cost

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.

Coverage

Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.

Payout Limits

The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit. That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.

Deductible

If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.

Age Limits

All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting Period

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details. However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
