I will have Trupanion as my pet's medical insurance for the rest of his life, and for all future pets I may own.

This company has been outstanding to me and my dog. I've never had pet insurance until my vet took one look at my dog during the new puppy wellness exam and said, "You have a very healthy, happy puppy. Congratulations. Now here's a brochure for a pet medical insurance company our clinic has had good experiences with." The vet handed me a brochure for Trupanion. I argued for a moment, "But why do I need medical insurance? My puppy is an Olde English Bulldogge... a crossbreed bulldog. They are much healthier than the traditional English bulldogs." My vet shook his head and replied, "Mixed breed or not, every new owner should highly consider medical insurance for their pets. Even for healthy new pups like yours." I begrudgingly took the Trupanion brochure, went home and began researching other pet medical insurance companies to make a well-informed choice. Trupanion consistently ranked in the top tier in my research. So I signed my puppy up. Less than a year later, that same pup fractured his elbow and required surgery from a specialist, and months of rehabilitation. I am forever grateful to that vet of mine, and Trupanion, because I would never have been able to afford such a shock to my finances. Unexpected pet medical emergencies happen, and I am financially prepared for the rare occurrence, but not for what turned out to be many months of rehabilitation because the surgery site would not heal properly and anti-inflammatory medications began causing serious GI upset. Trupanion had offered me a rider to my policy that I'm thankful I took. Because of it, I was able to afford to seek out Homeopathic pain management from another licensed vet, and different types of rehab that quickly gave my pup pain relief and swelling reduction. He is now 100% sound on that elbow. I would not have had the financial resources to continue trying to find alternative therapies that worked with great success for my dog without the aid of Trupanion insurance.

My Joey is receiving the very best care because I have Trupanion coverage.

My experience with Trupanion has been smooth, quick and compassionate. I was able to take Joey to the ER and then the neurologist for an MRI, and tomorrow will be surgery on his cervical vertebrae due to a blown disc. Every step of the way, Trupanion’s customer care department was able to provide pre-approval and set up vet direct pay within minutes, which allowed our family to make the decisions that are best for Joey and allow the veterinarians to provide all the treatment necessary. Looking forward to a full recovery!

You are the best and a real life saver

I have 3 dogs and we have you several years. You have literally been a lifesaver for me and my dogs. We were referred by my vet after we spent a large amount dealing with my dog that had cancer. I would do anything for my dogs . I have lost a son in the last five years and also one of my dogs. I am just grateful that I can do whatever it needs to keep them with us as long as possible and in good health

Trupanion is "must have" if you love your pet and yourself.

It's been 6 years since I brought my first and the only baby to the local vet clinic. Their stuff member strongly advised me to sign up with Trupanion. Numerous digestion and skin problems, were topped with knee condition and the required surgery would never happen if I didn't have you by my side! Thank you for making my baby's life painless!!!!

I am so thankful I bought Trupanion with 24 hours of buying my dog

My puppy has been hospitalized more than 6 times since I purchased him less than a year ago. If it wasn't for Trupanion I would have not been able to afford his hospital bills . After an MRI and spinal tap we finally able to get a correct diagnosis and he currently doing well on his medicines.

Monthly Cost

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.

Coverage

Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.

Payout Limits

The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit. That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.

Deductible

If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.

Age Limits

All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting Period

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details. However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
