I am extremely hesitant to recommend Trupanion right now.

I am extremely hesitant to recommend Trupanion right now. We are in an appeals start of process. I have great concerns about how these claims was denied, the process USED to deny the claims, and the reasoning Jenny gave me for denial of claim. I do want to acknowledge her great cooperation in send me copies of the Test Results Trupanion Requested of Albuquerque Animal Care Center (The City Shelter We Adopted Him From and Their "VCA" Vets 4/10/17.) As I SHARED with her in our conversation, Toby, was treated there for Dental Disease with a high amount of teeth extracted due to multiple infections periodontal and so he had many teeth removed there!!! He had elevated white blood count! He was placed on antibiotics and pain MEDICATIONS! He also had skin tumor on head and another area removed! That was all!! When we adopted him, the notes said, teeth extracted, tumors removed. WE were told Manager of apartment had surrendered him to the City Shelter. Absolutely no comments to us regarding Cushings Disease! Only medication he had when given to us was to finish his antibiotics for his INFECTION for PERIDONTAL DISEASE. THAT IS ALONG WITH THE SKIN TUMORS, THE TRUE PRE EXISTING CONDITION ON THE REPORT SHARED BY ALBUQUERQUE ANIMAL CARE CENTER. BUT I WILL DISCUSS WITH MY VETERNARIAN AND ALL BCA ANIMAL HOSPITALS WHO RECOMEND YOUR INSURANCE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS AND WE WILL SEE IF THEY SHARE THE SAME VIEW THAT TRUPANION DOES REGARDING THE DIAGNOSIS OF CUSHINGS DISEASE AS A PREEXISTING CONDITION AFTER YOU HAD ALL THE PAPER WORK IN AND THEN REFUSED COVERAGE AS A PREVIOUS EXISTING CONDITION. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE WRITTEN SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT YOUR PRACTICES OF DENIAL ON PREVIOUS CONDITIONS AND WASHINGTON STATE LAW SUITS. SO, I DO HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT THE RESOLUTION OF THIS AS I BEGIN THE APPEAL PROCESS. BUT THANK YOU FOR THE SURVEY AND I HOPE YOU FIND MY COMMENTS MOST HELPFUL. TOBY IS DOING WELL, THANKS TO US! I thought that there was just one deductible

I thought that there was just one deductible, but it seems like there are deductibles for every condition which I did not realize.

Love Trupanion.

Love Trupanion. It takes the headache out of processing claims, the staff is super friendly and helpful and removes finances from the equation when making critical decisions for my dogs' health.

Monthly Cost

Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.

Coverage

Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.

Payout Limits

The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit. That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.

Deductible

If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.

Age Limits

All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting Period

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details. However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like: Examination fees Wellness and preventive care Elective, or cosmetic procedures Sales tax, where applicable Like many other pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions.
