Very Supportive during difficult time

I did a lot of research before choosing a pet insurance company. I looked at them all and read reviews. After my cat had an expensive tooth surgery, I signed up for Spot with the hope of never having to use them. Unfortunately I did—about a year later, my cat suddenly was struck with something…vets couldn’t figure out what. He spent about a week in the emergency vet before we had to put him down. Spot was such an easy service, though, and gave me a tiny respite in a very difficult time. I was able to upload my vet bills, and there was no issue at all. Spot sent me reimbursement in just a couple days. And once they learned of my pet’s passing, they proactively ended my insurance and refunded me the remaining prorated balance. What insurance company does that?! I also received notes from their staff offering their condolences. Crazy. So anyway when we adopt our next pet I am 1000% coming back to Spot.

Pleasantly surprised …

I honestly did not know what to expect when I joined Spot Pet Insurance and enrolled my two cats. I’m really happy with their customer service and the quick reimbursement times which have been less than a week. It has been a good experience for me so far.

Misleading reimbursements.

I got a 6$ reimbursement on a 150$ bill. Puppies are going to have multiple rounds of the same shot in the first year, but Spot is only going to reimburse once per year. Im sure its mentioned in the fine print but when you are shopping online, they make it seem like you are going to be covered for every shot. Its a bit underhanded and misleading. The reimbursements are fairly fast, so I gave them one extra star, but be aware that if you are getting the insurance for your puppy, only the first round of vaccines in a year will be covered, no second boosters apparently.

Monthly Cost

Rates start at: $10 (for accident only), $16 (Complete Coverage). plan costs vary based on plan type, pet breed, age, and location.

Coverage

The pay-out amount is based on the actual vet bill, at a rate pre-selected by the customer: 90%, 80% or 70%

Payout Limits

Annual limits can be set by the customer, ranging from $2,500 to $20,000, including an unlimited option. No lifetime limits.

Deductible

$100, $250, $500, $750 or $1000 annually.

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

There are no waiting periods for preventive care. Coverage begins 14 days after date listed on policy for accidents, illnesses, and knee/ligament conditions.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures and breeding costs are not covered. Spot Pet Insurance has two Preventive Care plans that can be added to help cover a pet’s wellness care, including annual exams, vaccinations, tests, dental cleanings and flea/heartworm preventive. Preventive Care plans reimburse up to a set amount for each listed treatment. If your pet exhibited symptoms of a knee and ligament condition at any time, prior to enrollment or during a waiting period, all ligament and knee conditions will be excluded. Ligament and Knee are conditions involving a ligament, patella, meniscus or soft tissue disorder of the knee.
