Great Experience, switched 4 more dogs to them
We have spent over $3k, and one time over $6k on vet charges for a single occurrence with no insurance. In the case of the $6k bill, the dog died anyway. So, I decided to buy Pet Insurance and have 5 dogs and went with 3 different companies on purpose. On one claim we submitted, we received nothing despite a $2500 bill. Another time, a smaller bill was classed as preventive care even though I would not have taken to the Vet had they not kept throwing up their food. I was about to drop all pet Insurance, when our Corgi Mix rescue started pooping blood. She was insured with Spot.
My wife took her to our Vet, they kept overnight, stopped the bleeding and the bill was $1700+. I went to the Spot website and found it extremely easy to file a claim. They already have most of the Vets addresses and pick it up as you start typing their name. They even will take your banking info to auto deposit your claim payment, which I did. I filed the claim over the weekend, with all of bills and diagnosis from the Vet. I received an email yesterday, 3 business days after I filed the claim, that payment had been made into my account. Today, I checked the account and see that they paid 90% of my bill minus my $500 deductible.
Today, I transferred my other 4 dogs to Spot and found the rate much lower than the other companies I was using. Extremely pleased with Spot Pet Insurance. Much easier to have all on same policy with same coverage. I like $500 deductible then Spot pays 90% up to $10k.

Spot is so easy to deal with
Spot is so easy to deal with, has the easiest submission forms for claims. They are fast adjudicating claims and have paid out better than any other pet insurance I have been with in the past 20 years. We’ll see if prices go up at renewal, but so far they have really been reasonable. For reference I have a 7 year old small dog, who needs things here and there, but isn’t chronically ill and hasn’t had major things. Praying it stays that way. But where other insurances wanted thousands a year just because of age, Spot gave us a reasonable rate and is super easy to deal with.
Monthly Cost
Rates start at: $10 (for accident only), $16 (Complete Coverage). plan costs vary based on plan type, pet breed, age, and location.
Coverage
The pay-out amount is based on the actual vet bill, at a rate pre-selected by the customer: 90%, 80% or 70%
Payout Limits
Annual limits can be set by the customer, ranging from $2,500 to $20,000, including an unlimited option.
No lifetime limits.
Deductible
$100, $250, $500, $750 or $1000 annually.
Age Limits
No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.
Waiting Period
There are no waiting periods for preventive care. Coverage begins 14 days after date listed on policy for accidents, illnesses, and knee/ligament conditions.
Exclusions
Pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures and breeding costs are not covered.
Spot Pet Insurance has two Preventive Care plans that can be added to help cover a pet’s wellness care, including annual exams, vaccinations, tests, dental cleanings and flea/heartworm preventive. Preventive Care plans reimburse up to a set amount for each listed treatment.
If your pet exhibited symptoms of a knee and ligament condition at any time, prior to enrollment or during a waiting period, all ligament and knee conditions will be excluded. Ligament and Knee are conditions involving a ligament, patella, meniscus or soft tissue disorder of the knee.
